Poland warns Brussels it will DESTROY the EU if it tries to punish Britain for leavin

he country's former Prime Minister said that, far from deterring other countries from leaving, any attempts to punish the UK will only accelerate the break up of the beleaguered bloc.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the influential chairman of the ruling Law and Justice Party, also aimed a torpedo at close neighbours Germany, saying the rest of Europe "cannot allow" Angela Merkel to sink the EU by refusing to negotiate.

His comments yet again expose the growing division on the continent over how to deal with the fallout of last week's historic Brexit vote.

Poland is a deeply eurosceptic country and has been dismayed by Britain's vote to leave the bloc as it feels it has lost its biggest ally in the fight against Brussels federalism.

This is the guy who wanted a 2nd referendum. Poland benefits from the UK being in the EU, no surprises there

Poland is in no position to destroy the EU, millions of Poles live and work in the EU and send money back to their families.

Poland also receive billions in EU aid. Wrecking the EU will wreck the Polish economy so its an empty threat and everyone knows it.

The guy is also an idiot, making Britain pay into the EU so it can trade with it means more money for member states including Poland, no wonder he is not PM anymore.

Ok but it's a former prime minister so I don't think he really speaks for poland.

If Tony Blair popped up right now saying we should go to war with Mexico, he's clearly not speaking for Britain is he.

We are witnessing history in the making. The beautiful resurgence of nationalism and Masculinity after decades of liberal, feminist globalist attacks on what makes us fundamentally Human, on our Soul.

And the remainiacs are too busy crying on twitter to realise it.

**** liberals.

Why do you have to be so daft? When has nationalism brought us anything but war? Liberalism brought us equality for all, fair trials and courts and reduced the discrimination against the working class that had been going for years. Funny that those working class people are the ones fighting against liberalism.
Also, how the **** is Liberalism attacking your "soul"?
You speak of masculinity as if it is some quality that should be attributed to politics, I find that funny, but mostly stupid. Should we settle important issues with sword fights in the future then? What about roman wrestling?

Few people in Europe enjoy greater influence over their nations than does Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The white-haired, 66-year-old leader of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party is at the heart of a rightwing resurgence that has swept to power over the past 10 months in the European Union’s eastern linchpin. A former prime minister, Kaczynski chose not to run for president or prime minister in last year’s elections: he now dictates policy to the two party officials Andrzej Duda and Beata Szydlo he nominated for those roles. In a newspaper poll this month, 55 per cent of respondents said Kaczynski ran the country (10 per cent believed it was the prime minister).

The guy is saying that the EU should hold fair negotiations with Britain after Brexit, what daft point were you trying to make this time?

That's because half of their population are already here in the UK. Who will pick up the bill when we leave

There's nothing beautiful about nationalism. It's what caused every single war in the history of humanity.

The comment on masculinity/feminism and whatnot is simply idiotic.

You need to pick up a history book.

Strong argument. And one that is used by the ignorant.

I have picked up many history books. But this is not simply about history - it's about logic.

Now, if you want to refer to something specifically, feel free. Otherwise, don't assimilate every other sheep out there.

Pretty sure you are misinterpreting the title?
'Poland warns Brussels it will DESTROY the EU if it tries to punish Britain for leavin'
meaning EU will destroy itself if....etc etc

Yeah I stopped reading there. Poland said *******s all.

Once people see what happens to us, nobody else will be leaving the EU.
I agree that the EU trying to punish us for leaving will severely damage their relationship with other members.

They see how it is in that situation.

If you ever want to know what pushed nationalism forward it was you people. Liberalism is becoming ever more hated. Liberalism and Fascism share a core ideal and that is political correctness. Your efforts to create a liberal utopia has pushed people to nationalism. I am a remain voter but just know, what ever problems occur in the EU, it's the fault of people like you. Liberalism is poison
Lol who even is Poland?

The irony. What daft point are you trying to make this time, seeing as you can't even get your brain to understand a Daily Express (tabloid) article beyond "He said the EU should be nice to us and there's nothing else to it"?

He's arguing for what you said in order to maintain good UK-EU relations so that there's a higher chance of the UK returning to the EU. Strong reading comprehension.

Mr Kaczynski has even said the UK should hold a second referendum on the issue of membership and today reiterated his hopes that other leaders will give Britain "a chance of returning"

But today Mr Kaczynski blasted: "The initial proposals from these big countries encourage the break-up of the Union.

"We cannot stand idly by and let the most powerful ones carry on like this. We cannot allow the Union to fall apart.

Addressing delegates, the 67-year-old was also keen to leave the door open for a possible return to the European fold for Britain. Far from punishing Britain for voting to leave, instead he urged Brussels to "reach out" to the next Government and try to smooth over future relations.

Urging Brussels bureaucrats not to burn bridges, he pleaded: "We have to give it a chance, a chance of returning."

There's also the title of this thread hinting at why the former PM said that:

Poland warns Brussels it will DESTROY the EU if it tries to punish Britain for leaving

It's in capitals but I guess that's not enough for some "daft" readers like you :smug:
