It is until you've actually worked a job..

Loads of things will come into it:

- money (obviously)
- progression (everyone wants to feel like they are advancing)
- longer term views of potential salary (i'd take a lower paid job now if it meant way more later)
- location (working in London is much better than an oil rig in the north sea)
- other opportunities it opens up (can you move into a better job)
- hours (e.g unsocial hours or just long hours)
- enjoyment/happiness (hard to do a job you hate long term)
- reputation (sometimes the reputation of where you work comes into it)
- other life priorities (e.g. starting a family or where your other half works)

Probably missed a few others too.

I could probably earn 20-50% more in salary but there were a number of reasons why I chose not to do that.

I have, and money is still #1. Probably always will be.

agree with zerf.

Way to many other variables that come in to play when you are older/working properly.

Money is definitely near the top, but not always.

For me personally:

1. Pride in my work
2. Control and Independence
3. Money
4. Enjoyment
5. Routes of progression/future opportunities
6. Amount of free time

When you realize that your local ultra-cheap holiday destinations are Japan, Korea and Thailand :biggrin:

Mrs. Acorns is demanding a holiday - rightly so, havent had a proper holiday in a while now.. visited england at christmas, and went to a few places in china last year, but Its been 2 years now since we had a propper week or two away in a different country.

Not sure where though - fancy japan, only a 2h flight from here.. but whilst the flight is really cheap, everything there is on the expensive side.

Thailand is another very cheap flight.. and everything is super cheap there.. but its going to be so hot this time of year. Could just chill on the beach for a couple of weeks though.

Not sold on korea, doesn't seem that special to me, but mrs. acorns loves the food..

Russia is actually the cheapest place to go to from here, but russia in the summer seems really uninspiring.

Could go mongolia.. but its a bit pricey surprisingly.
