Hi, yes I did. It seems to be standard if you cant show an upto date immunization record. Because I did part of my immunisations abroad and did not have a uk immunization record, they did a blood test to check my immunity for a series of conditions.
Is anyone looking at getting somewhere to stay in Newcastle in October / November for the Masters and be interested in looking for a flat share / air bnb or something for those weeks?

Hi all,

Still looking for the other trainees who will be starting in Genomics/Bioinformatics (Genomics) in Newcastle!

Would love to say hello before September

I'm going to be doing the Clinical Bioinformatics (Genomics specialism) STP in Newcastle, so hiya! Have you managed to find other Newcastle Genomics trainees yet?

Hey, I'm just trying to find the other Bioinformatics (Genomics) trainee in Oxford, there's supposed to be two of us. Would be nice to know you before we start
Does anybody know when we will start getting paid? Trying to work out when to leave my current job and hoping not to have a huge gap between paydays! Anybody else going to be at Shrewsbury?
Hey everyone,

I thought I'd copy the people above by making a Facebook group for the Genomics trainees this year - https://www.facebook.com/groups/162290054183473/

Feel free to join and add anyone else you know that is on the genomics programme!

I'm going through the sign-up for the academic portion at the moment. Aston require a sponsor letter to avoid fees. Have any of you done this already and can point me in the direction of who to contact at the NHS/NHSCS? Here's the email from Aston:
Thank you for accepting your offer on the MSc in Clinical Science (Neurosensory Sciences) programme for the academic year 2016/7. Sponsored Students: If a third party, typically a Company, Research Council or Government Institute is paying fees on your behalf you will need to provide a letter from your sponsor. This document must be on headed paper or an official purchase order, stating: •The student name•The amount they will be contributing, e.g. 50%, 100% or a figure can be given e.g. £5000•The academic period that they are paying, whether they are just paying for 2014/15 or state that they are paying for the whole duration of the programme you are on 3 or 4 years•A contact name for Aston's Finance Department• A full invoicing address and email address for the area responsible for making payments

For those of you going through this in future, I contacted nshcs and they're working through it - it appears to be a new system. Email details:

"I am in discussion with the HEI to determine if I can provide one letter for the entire cohort or whether each student needs a letter, I will be in touch with the school once I have an answer we can disseminate the responses to students as appropriate apologies for the inconvenience this appears to be a new system"

I've not heard anything either and neither have the people from my degree class who applied to it as well! We are only at four weeks at the end of this week though since the closing date. Also I applied to the cardiology one as well which closed last Friday. What I found weird was that they started processing that application waaaayyy before the closing date so I was kind of hoping they'd linked up the applications and maybe considering me for an interview? That's just being hopeful though :/

Oh no, I understand how stressful that might be! It should be just a formality if the funding does not even come from the trust! Seeing that your post will not affect their budget, I don't think the director would like to start the post making such harsh decisions who would affect not only you but the team who was expecting you in September. Fingers crossed for you, keep us updated!

Thanks, it has finally been approved! so relieved! Hopefully HR don't take long to get in touch now!
