Porn websites to be legally required to ask for age verification

More like asking for their credit card details. I haven't verified it myself but I was reading in a thread about it on Reddit that UK porn sites are already required to verify age and have been prosecuted for having lax verification, like asking users to input their date of birth, and now have processes like requiring card details. Ludicrous and completely impractical, but it's never stopped these puritanical cavemen before.

how would that work on free sites

Why do British parents find it so hard to actually do any parenting? If the rest of the country has to look after your kids for you, maybe you shouldn't be having kids.

What does parenting involve for you?
Stopping kids from having access to the internet or making sure there is an adult watching them while they surf the net at all times....?
pointless, why don't they try and fix something we actually need fixing?
hmmm wondering what the Brexit POV is on this ? :holmes:

*My Sidney says that these nasty foreign filth peddlers will be banned. It was bad enough with that disgusting Carry On Camping film.**

Probably exactly the same. It'd just become the norm to have to enter your card details to access adult content.

Next step: every time you turn your PC on you have to log in with your National Insurance number!

Investigating and applying the appropriate protections, like installing software on their devices.

Or - maybe this is just a little bit too extreme - actually educating their kids and discussing these things regularly.
That wouldn't work.

I remember when my ISP asked for people to enter their card details to verify their age but I'm sure a lot of kids dug into their parents wallets and bypassed it in no time. This 'verification' process is just another plan set to fail.

You're being naive, kids will always experiment and do things their parents don't know about. Were you ever a teenager yourself?

Smoking, underage alcohol, underage sex, drugs these are all things teenagers do and their parents can't stop them, it has been going on for decades. If kids can access the internet they can access porn. All government is doing here is trying to make it harder for underage people to access porn which is fine by me. They aren't banning porn. If you're over 18, you can bash away at your computer to your heart's content.

I agree and it's not as if a quick age verification process is going to deter a horny 15 year old

So true

Whatever restrictions they have it wont stop like teenagers + to watch it or get access to it , for their own pleasure :s-smilie:
Hopefully, we will elect a party which will make laws to prevent this blatant censorship at some point. It is pointless and they know it's pointless.
