Mid 2:1 after first year in uni. Would it hurt my application to Oxford?

I'm thinking about applying to oxford for a different course, but I'm afraid even with perfect A-levels, my mid 2:1 at uni would hurt my application. I've never applied to oxford, but was wondering would it still be worth applying now? I got only one module mark above 70, the rest were all in the mid 60s, and i had one module mark that was a 59 bah :frown:

truthful advice would be really appreciated thanks

For which Oxford course? And what are your A-levels?

BTW, you will need to declare your existing university results on your UCAS application.

Maths: A, History: A, and English: A

I'm thinking of applying to PPE. I'm really afraid my 59 in one module will disadvantage me tremendously :frown:

And yeah I definitely will declare my university results on my UCAS application...

So if you do apply, and are successful what do you do about funding? You will be in your 2nd year at your current uni. And will have to start PPE in Year 1, so even with the SFE "gift" year there will be a shortfall...

You will also need a strong reference from your current university.

And given the info I've just seen in your other thread I honestly think you would be unlikely to be offered a place at Oxford. Stay at Durham - it's an excellent university. Work hard, get a First.

Thank you for the truthful advice. I agree I don't think its in my best interest to apply, but I wanted to make sure
