Anti-refugee people: Would you rather have a Syrian die than come to the UK?

Think about it logically, if they were a collective financial asset countries would be lining up to take them, there is a net cost to taking them in, throwing about some employment figures doesn't change that.

How much tax do you think they will need to pay working as labourors to cover the cost of us having to

- rescue them from the sea
- house them
- put their children through 18 years of education
- provide them and their family of 6 with medical care
- deal with the terror threats
- deal with the rape problems

This is to name a few of the financial aspects you seem to be ignoring, maybe after a thousand years of paying tax on their kabab shop their communities will be making a net contribution to our society, you can't be this dim to think there is a monetary gain to accepting these 'refugees' from Africa and the ME

I am not talking about refugees. I am talking about immigrants.

We don't rescue refugees because it is profitable.

You do realise that they are forbidden to have a job?

Easy mistake to make, the words seem interchangeable these days, and not to change the topic but anyone crossing the waters between Turkey and Italy is by definition not a refugee, unless they are fleeing persecution in Turkey.

This makes them part of the immigrant discussion, does it not, as they are now economic migrants.

Well, obviously interchangeable if you are a racist. Everyone else didn't make the mistake.

They are quite different. An immigrant is allowed to work. A refugee isn't.

I am talking about economic migration.

And the people leaving Turkey for Europe are doing so for economic reasons, so they are economic migrants, are they not.

So what? They are not treated as economic migrants because they cannot work.

You are the only person that hasn't understood this so far. So go back to your UKIP rally.

Not initially no, they receive state handouts, my point being that these economic migrants should be factored in when you are tallying up financial gains and loses that come about from the migration scenario.

Does that seem reasonable, if not, why ?

Because they are not economic migrants. They are refugees.

They cannot be an economic migrant because THEY CANNOT WORK.

FML.

They are fleeing persecution in Turkey, or even Greece, or France. It seems they are not refugees then, but economic migrants.

The EU itself has even stated that a at least 60% of those 'refugees' are traveling to Europe for economic reasons and are not in fact refugees, so, they are largely economic migrants. That they can't work only seems to maximize the negative contribution they don't make.

If the EU itself admits this why can't you ?

This discussion is ridiculous.

Fleeing persecution in France? What the **** are you on about?

Can't be bothered with this discussion anymore.

Then they get sent back to their home country .

They are not going to be allowed into the UK if they are not refugees.

We try to stop them, sure, but many still get in, even if they don't get in how many truckloads of goods get destroyed every year when they have been contaminated.

Of those that arrive on our soil, it is notoriously hard to deport, we must process their application for asylum or whatever baloney claim they make, if they get in and don't get caught, which many do, they wont have NI numbers and will not pay taxes, but they will use public services.

It costs the UK billions every year, that is, these types of economic migrants do and it directly attributable to the free movement allotted to European workers within Europe, that's how they reach our borders, it is a net cost to us and should be factored in when tallying up financial gains from economic migration

The solution that makes sense is stricter measures on ensuring no undocumented workers are hired. If you don't hire undocumented workers, they won't work, they won't find a source of food and they will have to return to authorities, or beg for money, in both cases the authorities will be able to deal with them appropriately.

A lot of people here are hating on refugees and saying that Britain shouldn't accept any. So would you rather have an innocent Syrian die in an air strike or a bomb than come here and live a safe life here?

Have one die? No. Would I rather a refugee go to the nearest safe country? Yes. Happy medium.
So many heartless people on here. Would gladly swap some of you for some Syrian refugees

That is a great story. We are talking about LEGAL migration.

Everyone else understood that, except for you.
