Is a conversion MSc a good enough basis for a PhD application

Hi there!

Truth be told this is a question for the future, that I may or may not need the answer to. However, being forewarned is being forearmed after all!

I am starting a conversion Masters in Computer Science at the University of Kent, my undergraduate is in History, and I wish to retrain and diversify my skill set. This is fine. My question is whether or not, if I chose I wanted to look into further postgraduate study after my masters i.e. a PhD, would the conversion Masters be seen as a strong enough basis to undertake that level of research?

If anyone has any particular personal experience in the matter, I'd love to hear it.

Yes, it's possible. You would probably have a much narrower range of PhD opportunities you could take up, but it's possible.
You are probably going to be very limited in the kind of PhD you are going to be able to do.
I know a few people who did an MRes/Msc in some sort of CS specialisation before doing a PhD.
