dont know why most normal people care about being spied on tbh.

the furthest most people go is calling a chelsea fan a certified paedophile on twitter, big Theresa would probably even have a giggle at that one.

As Snowden put it, in a democracy you're never that far away from a completely new government. You're acting like its a God given right the UK will always be a democracy, that there no way someone could come to power and decide to start using such tools to ensure the longevity of their administration, to put the UK on the path of Putin's Russia or Erdogan's Turkey which are moving in the territory of psudo-democracies. To start spying on journalists, so sources can never be anonymous, start spying on party members, opposition members, unions, student activists. So that while the democratic process takes place its never really going to have more than one outcome. They can destroy opposition before it can organise into anything resembling a threat.

Its not about being normal or not normal, because all it take is for you to decide you would not really like the same guy to run our nation for the next 50 years and for the people in charge of these tools you just moved from normal into the not normal category. Things which make you normal in one country, like thinking you should have the right to vote, make you an agitator in another. Being normal or law abiding isn't something you get to decide if you don't rule on what is normal or lawful.
As long as you not doing something overly illegal you have nothing to worry about. In the grand scheme of things no one gives a **** how often you watch porn or about that time you googled "why won't Zayn love me back"

my comment was 80% joke tbh, more aimed at May's eagerness (or presumed eagerness) to push this legislation through. But saying that the if you've nothing to hide you have no worries or as long as it stop terrorists I want it, isn't a main argue I'd put up against snoopers charter. I agree with everything fizzle said in terms of security and keeping us 'safe' it adds nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Wrt to These, legislation already exist that gives security services enough power to snoop and monitor. Yes spying and data collection already exist. But there has to be a limit (for me it's pushing for weakening of encryption key).

The real issue is, drum roll, resources. See the lee Rigby case. But then when MPs ask to be an exception to this law, it makes you go hmmmmmm.......

My biggest issue with the legislation is that the Intent and execution is/ going to be poor. It's poor value for money and like I said given that resources is what caused lee Rigby to happen, there's better way to use that money. Also people that know **** about data collection and isp have already pretty much labelled it a failure and given that the NHS data collection had to be scrapped, I'm probably on their side.

It won't pass in its current state anyway, it's been widely opposed by most because of its extensive powers, it is a non-issue at the moment and is definitely not the end of free press like some are propagating. It won't get to the point of it interfering with journalism as its been made clear that privacy clauses will/have been added to protect them, either way journalists should be trained in encrypting their data from day one tbh. Overall, the only likely measure to be accepted is the one about terrorist threats, even the NSA have called out on some of what the GCHQ plan to do as stupid and something that they'd only do to terrorist targets abroad.

I don't particularly agree with the policy, just that I dont see it really affecting me in the slightest. America have already shown that spying on people in this Orwellian nature doesn't help in controlling terrorist attacks so I don't have any real hope of it doing wonders here.

Not that much, far less than it cost in rent. Bills increase a lot over the winter months though.

It's a bit of a dick move, but if people are asking for money that seems a lot for bills ask to see a receipt. A girl in mine who bought all the cleaning stuff etc asked for 10 quid a month, which for 70 quid a month seems a lot to spend on that.

about 55 ish a month is a safe bet imo, could use less if youre conservative. thats just standard water gas electricity and broadband (4 of us) but you can add sky tv and stuff if you get good deals with the broadband and stuff.
