The PM said that death penalty may be used and that 2800 soldiers have been arrested.

Some army officers claimed asylum in Greece. Seems over.

Has any proof actually come out to substantiate the claim that these plotters were involved with or sympathetic to the Gulen movement?

I don't see Gulen allied with Kemalists. Erdogan is just involving him to justify further purges against Gulen's supporters.

Won't be suprised if the death penalty is used. Sadly, I expected the "government" to use it if the coup failed.

Ah...I guess you only support coups when they are supported by America like the coup by Zia ul Haq in Pakistan?

Erdogan isn't going to be "democratic" in the repression.

IdeasForLife is hardly a supporter of democracy. He had Zia ul Haq in his avy for a long time, a guy who seized power in Pakistan through a coup d'etat. He has no problems with coup d'etats if they result in an Islamist gaining power.
Soldiers that surrendered on the bridge in Istanbul have bean beaten, a few were beaten to death by Erodogan supporters and their bodies thrown into the river.

Pretty grisly stuff

Edited that for you.
