Extenuating Circumstances??

Hello

I recently recieved my exam results and I failed quite baddly. enough so that my studies will be suspended. I didnt do all that well in the first semsester but showed improvment in the second. my class tests had good resutls but I have chronic depression and it started again at the end of april. by the time exams came, I was falling apart but I dont think I even realised how bad it was. I applied for EC after I had a panic attack in an exam and it was granted for this exam but I tried to continue with the rest of my exams. But by then, I was on medication and the side effects got so bad and my problems got worse and worse. its too late to appply for EC now so I have to file an Accademic Appeal. Essesntially im just wondering whAT my chances are. Is it worth it? will they let me retake. Im showing improvement and I know I can do it if given the chance. Do you think they will grant this?
Just look up the rules. They should be on the website.

Do the appeal plys get your medical evidence to support your claim.
On academic grounds theres probably not a lot they cna do about marks, but they may ket you resit or retake the year.
You need to make your case well, so get the help of an advisor in the SU.

Whether they will let you retake rather than resit is at their discretion. You dont reeally ahve anything to lose.

yes i will do it. im just worried they will reject it. Im not sure how seriously depression is taken espessially when I didnt really get treatment beforehand but I didnt realise how bad things were getting until it was too late :frown:

They will tale it more seriously if you have medical proof supporting the fact you were ill at the relevant time. Obviously weaker if you didnt get treated or let them know you were struggling.

Also et advice from someone in the SU.

Independednt medical adbice- GP, therapist, mental health counselor

You need evidence and somone to help you write the appeal. Go to the SU.

It sounds like you would be better taking a year off to get your depression dealt with and coming back in 2018.
