Only dead fish go with go with the flow.

All fish have a mission and they swim in the direction necessary to achieve their goals. The only fish that "go with the flow" are the fish who are dead and thus have no mission, no goals and no capacity to do anything but float along without resistance.

What this quote means is people should think for themselves, do what they want to do and not be swayed by peer pressure or social influence.
