UPDATE:

Police have shot two men who took a priest and several others hostage at knifepoint at a church in north-western France.

The men cut the priest's throat before being "neutralised," police said.

Le Figaro newspaper reported that the priest died after his throat was cut.

The men’s motives are still unknown.

Elite police units rushed to the church in the Normandy town of Saint-Etienne-du Rouvray after the men seized a number of people including a priest and two nuns.

It remains unclear whether the hostage takers were killed in the police action.

A police source told AFP that one of the hostages has been killed.

Shots have been reported since - hopefully no one too badly hurt :frown:
Attackers shot dead my police, still don't know if it was terrorism.

They have since been "neutralised".
-_- wtf
An attack on a place of worship - disgusting. I've heard everybody is OK apart from the nutjob - really hope so! Thoughts with everyone involved.

Edit it seems the priest has been killed - how awful! Rest in peace <3

Is the media getting better at covering these sort of events or is the world just becoming more mucked up by the day :frown:
Hard to imagine this is anything other than terrorism... It's not like there's a bank vault or something valuable they'd be trying to get with the hostages

And one hostage killed

They've been 'neutralised' now
Some media is reporting they 'beheaded' the priest.

If these reports are true, we mustn't jump to conclusions!
If this is the usual suspects this is taking a turn for the worse

You really don't want to piss of the Christians in Europe. They may roll over in the middle east but they won't in the west.
Any reason we shouldn't assume the obvious?

You'll be called a racist.
That's, what, four terrorist attacks in Europe this month?

The one in Nice, the one in Wurzburg, the one in Ansbach and now this one in Normandy.

Unfortunately Islam is the sea in which the fish of terrorism swim. Only when it is reformed, and they abandon their insular victimhood culture and retrograde beliefs will we start to make progress.

The fact there were two perpetrators points strongly to Islamic terrorism. Two means it wasn't just some lone nut, and the target (a church) is very much in line with Islamist ideology
RoP.
Still no word on the ethnicity of the attackers, will know a lot more when that is released.

One of them was wearing a traditional Tunisian hat. There are reports that they shouted their allegiance to 'Daesh' (ISIS)
Apparently the attackers made reference to ISIS, almost certainly was an Islamic terrorist attack.

Another death to add to my list of dead people that the left have created, the only small blessing here is that the victim was 86 years old.
