Help me to understand this Academic papers' formulas, please !

Hi to everybody !
I'm from Italy and I'm not good in Maths; I'm interested in "spaced review" and "distributed practice" to study better; searching on internet I've found some interesting academic papers about new research that help to calculate personalized spaced review, but I can't understand how to do
1) because my English is not so good to understand entirely an Academic paper like these
2) Because all these formulas only have made me headache

You can find the PDF here :

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi, do you have any formulae in particular that you'd like clarified? Not many people will jump into those papers and read the whole context to clarify them. I can probably help but don't count on me too much as I have not worked with research papers yet!

I'm not sure what's the formula in that paper, but I have another formula I'm sure I need it.

You can see it at page 5 of this paper :
http://wixtedlab.ucsd.edu/publications/wixted/Cepeda_Vul_Rohrer_Wixted_Pashler.pdf

It starts from "discussion" and ends at "theoretical implications"
There are only a few line to read, that gives you the parameters values

And this is the curve built with this function :
