I don't think it was my warm-ups - 170 as a last single for an attempted 190 x 5 sounds fairly sensible to me. I think it was just a reflection of how my training has been going this last week or two, coupled with disappointment from the press.
I'm not really in the best position to give advice, but have you considered knocking out some volume when you have bad days for your main sets? I get cutting losses and going home if you think you aren't properly recovered, but if it happens too often you might end up having the opposite problem! Just a thought - ive not been following too closely so could have missed smth

Getting some volume in would be the logical thing to do, although I find it very frustrating staying when things aren't going too well... I dunno, I think I maybe need to switch to something with more volume at lower weights.

Yeah if you're consistently having bad sessions take a week or 2 off completely or just switch it up tbh. If the time off doesn't help you know it's not recovery

Quick session tonight. Was very time constrained and still DOMS from Saturday's squats:
Squats:
130 x 5/5
Light squats.
Press:
80 x 3/3/3/1
First three quite hard but doable. Last set very close after previous one as had to leave so tried to give another a bash but didn't have more than one rep in me.
