IB summer internship or placement year?

Im still inbetween as some banks have already started opening applications.
More to the point, i want to know which have better job prospects and the likely hood of receiving a full time offer, if anyone has looked up conversion percentages that would be a good discussion. Also, what are the vacancies like for each one? I would assume summer internships boast a lot more places.

Any knowledge or opinions are greatly appreciated
Internship > placement for conversion.

Internship > placement for conversion.

What if you didnt get offered a full time place, would a 12 month experience be better than a 12 week to get another job?
Summer internship for front office banking. Placement for anything else.

Or in my case, I did both because the start date of my placement was in September.

Mmm yeah I can see why, where did you do your FO summer at?

Was at a french bank so I knew an offer was unlikely as they have low conversion in general.
Is it common to apply for both a placement year and summer internship at banks/firms?

Hi guys, for my course I am allowed to choose to go for placement. My question is this, If I apply for a placement, does it mean I can apply for spring week as well since it will be a 4 year degree.
Struggling with this question myself. I'm now in 2nd/penultimate year of my degree and I'm torn between placement year or summer internship.

Obviously, the summer has a higher conversion rate for grad offers, some firms only offer summer internships and I'd finish my degree quicker. However, I'm tempted by placement years because fewer universities allow this - so I'm presuming there'll be less competition for places. I also think I'd really benefit from an entire year spent within a bank, as I have no finance-related experience as of yet.
