I lived in Paris for a year [back in 1987] and I still keep in touch with the Australian wife and French husband who I was living with. He is an inventor; he invented some version of Surround Sound . If you go on Wikipedia and type in 5:1 Surround Sound and scroll down the page it will name him. It says Dominique Bertrand invented a version of 5:1 Surround Sound for the Moulin Rouge's new sound system. [I was a professional dancer there.] Anyway, he has had lots of patents over the years and they have made him plenty of money. And I mean plenty . He spends roughly 300 thousand Euros a year on flights alone between Paris and Perth ,where his grown up children live. He is a highly intelligent, very rational man. I was having a long chat with him on Skype . He messaged me on Facebook the day after the Referendum, congratulating me [He knew my position already] on the result. He told me he is sick to death of the interfering EU. He hates it and he was so jealous that we in the UK had a Referendum and he hopes France will get one one day too. He said he doesn't have one single friend, either as a friend or a business colleague who still thinks it's a great idea having an EU. Obviously, this is just one man's opinion. A lot of his attitude was because of the migrants. He told me the French are thoroughly sick of them.

I read that, your life sounds glamorous. I'm planning on living there myself, clearly not like that guy..but I bloody love Paris. I'l love it more if it gets back it's Frenchness, it's uniqueness and preserves itself. Is there the patriotic will to do it?

It is such a beautiful city. Expensive though, of course, like any other capital. [But no where near as expensive as Tokyo]. I've always said I'd love to go back for a few days. But that has changed over the last 18 months or so. Now I don't want to go anywhere. I live in a small village in Ireland and it's safe here. I always wanted my 19 year old son to see a bit of the world like I have,but that has changed as well. I told him, after Nice, that I don't really want him going anywhere outside Ireland. Certainly not any where in Europe.I know and understand you can't live your life in fear and being sheltered. But tbh, I would rather do that than risk getting flattened by a truck.
