This is very true
Guys on here who simply don't understand why people have a problem with wolf whistling, well maybe you should imagine a scenario where your boss or university professor caught you wolf whistling at a stranger? How would you feel? And why?
You'd most likely feel embarrassed, and even a little ashamed of yourself. Because you know that wolf whistling goes against a number of social norms, it is inappropriate and considered sleazy. No self respecting man would
ever wolf whistle at a stranger. Similarly, imagine if you caught your boss or university professor wolf whistling, you'd most likely lose a little respect for them.
Why is it that so many of you need to be
explicitly taught such social norms? It's meant to be something you implicitly learn through socialisation, it doesn't normally require a verbal explanation. Maybe your social environment was somehow lacking, or you lack the cognitive ability to grasp such norms.
Or
most likely you'd never dream of wolf whistling at a woman in real life. But behind the safety of your laptops and phones, you put on some bravado, and pretend that there's nothing wrong with it, when in reality when you are faced with the opportunity to wolf whistle you'd never dream of doing it.
