I mentioned that I was a year younger, despite my height, and Insight mentioned that physicsmaths was also a giant ubermann, so I asked him cos I was curious. Then Insight wanted me to reassure him about his height, I failed, and you triggered him. So I blame you.

Yeah, I am 100% set on re-applying to Cambridge since I love the course and it is the best that could be offered for someone wanting to specialise in theoretical physics. However, the problem is that I need to find out what I would be doing (except self-studying part IA) for one whole year, if I missed my offer. He also recommended me to apply to some kind of Maths school that King's College London does, idk about what that is.

I don't know m8, I will be so lost if I get rejected on 18th August.

Many colleges are fine with gap years for Mathmophysicists. There's a pdf somewhere on the math dept site listing college attitudes to gap years (and lots of other stuff about applying for Maths).

And no you don't need to be at school to apply. But keeping in touch with your school is a good idea because you will probably want to use them for your reference.

I think I'm around 5 ft 2 - 5ft 3 thanks to corrective surgery so I'm relatively tall for someone with it :biggrin:

I see. Will I even be categorised as a gap year student though? I understand they are fine with it, but will it in anyway affect my application negatively if I got rejected on results day and re-applied? Also, I would most likely stay in my school to keep my amazing reference. Can I reuse it even if I am not a member of that school? Either way, if I get rejected on 18th August and I don't get any better opportunities at other schools, then I would most likely just stay in my normal school do a few A-levels in one year, self-study part IA as I currently am and work on STEP (if that is where I had failed which I doubt). To be honest, I am pretty confident for results day and the only problem I may have is with STEP II where I overestimated my partials and I may be getting a low Grade 1, but my STEP III could easily be a low Grade S so that should be fine. Would not forgive myself if I got 12S though. Hence, all these questions are pretty much theoretical and in case I get rekt by STEP II and don't get to ask these questions on results day.

In a weird way I'm kind of glad I developed it early on because I can imagine it being really traumatic to go through puberty and development with your spine twisting :O It makes for a great introductory story though :wink:

It's the best height to be at - small enough to hide but not so small to get lost!

I have some friends who are shorter as well but they compensate with massive, impossible to walk in heels!

Since I said before I would ask a friend what my height is (compared to theirs), one of my good friends said I was "something like 5'10'' ", just as I supposed.
