Commuting to King's College London

I'm going to King's College London this September and will be commuting in (accommodation prices were just way too expensive). I know some universities have societies for commuters but I don't think there's one at King's. I'm a little bit apprehensive about socialising etc - even though I've been told it'll be fine - and was wondering if there was anybody else who will be commuting in?

I can totally understand commuting due to the cost of living in London :biggrin:. Even if there isn't a society I wouldn't worry too much. There's so much time to socialise, and you can stay over at people's flats quite easily.

I'm commuting to KCL too in September for the same reason!

It's good to know there's others in the same boat! Where about are you commuting from? And what will you be studying?
I'm also commuting as I only live about 30 from King's Strand campus and didn't see a point moving out but very close to home. I'm also abit nervous about the social part and "missing out" but I'm sure we'll make many friends from our course or from the societies we chose to join.

This is making me feel a lot better! What are you all studying? I reckon a commuting society is a good idea! I live just outside London so I'm really hoping it doesn't mean we miss out. I reckon we'll just have to make a bit of extra effort!
I'm commuting also, come from just north of london and i am to study mathematics. My main concern is being stuck between two lectures several hours apart without being able to go home
I'm commuting from the medway and maidstone area in Kent and studying war studies with history!

Why don't people stay at each others houses and pretend to be living away from home
I'll be commuting to KCL everyday too and I live in Stratford in East London at the moment. Gosh, those tube journeys are gonna be hell. You'll make friends, don't worry.
I'll be commuting to KCL everyday from south east london which is a 45 mins journey from the campus. I am studying CS and I am pretty excited for the course :biggrin:

Hi everyone!! There's some more of us too on some other threads - I'm so relieved not to be alone in this hahaa! I'll be studying at Strand Campus and my parents didn't want me staying anywhere other than Stamford Street, so I'm on the waiting list for another accommodation offer but I'm not getting my hopes up hahaa. What's everyone else doing about Freshers??:h:

Either try sober up by the time I'm leaving so I can hop on the tube or crash at my mates place for the night

Sounds like a good plan haahaa, I'll have friends in UCL and Imperial accommodation so hopefully I'll be able to sleep on their floor ahaa

Worst comes to worst maybe sober up in a 24 hour McDonald's or something? Should be manageable anyway

Where abouts are you commuting from???
I'm not studying at KCL but I'm going into my final year at Queen Mary (East London) - I commute from Essex and still found socialising quite easy, and then I had a baby in my second year and still found I had time to do so :-)
