Traveling takes like 5 hours on train, direct from Edinburgh, so not too bad tbh

I also doubt you would miss nightlife/culture and research in Edinburgh

If I find myself in your position, I'd most definitely go to Edinburgh! It has a fantastic medical school! Good luck.
