It depends on your approach to uni, the way my life used to be was one of three things generally
- Uni, exerise, food, work/ socialise - Uni, food, work, exercise in late evening - Uni, food, socialise/ work
Appreciate it mate! If you've managed to fit everything in, I'm sure I'll cope- the prospect is inevitably daunting though. I miss the days I could play in soft play areas. Rip
I wake up early and go to the gym at 7:00. This allows me time to do whatever I want for the rest of the day. This works perfectly if you have a 9:00 lecture as you can workout, take a shower and then head for the lecture.
It does mean that I generally wake up at around 6:30 and go to bed at around 10:00, but hey, that's what you would do when you are working office hours anyway so I see it as preparation for the future
Heyy. Thanks for the suggestion! Is this still possible for you near the Exam times? sometimes 10pm is a little too early given the proximity of the exams.
I had 6-8 hours last year. Will have about 6 this final year. I attend uni working on essays and stuff more than that but it's lovely to hit the gym, take as long as i want. Eat properly and then do some work. Or get up late and just cruise in whenever i want to.
Quite often take 1/2 days a week off. Gotta get that sleep in bro.
I broke basically when we last messaged. Hence why i never responded as was too devastated.
Bad Shoulder bursitus killed the gym for 4 months for me. Also broke my ankle to compound it.
Just started bulking again this week, i'm skinny now. Weighing 68.5kg (was about 71/72kg when we last spoke).
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Happy just to be lifting again.
What about yourself mate? Your bulk ends soon right? What is your bw atm?
Ah yeah, you're a weee ladee *sorry* but I recall you were up north.
Yh man, you sound like you're having the time off your life juggling everything so perfect with very few contact hours, obv more independent work but in your own time frame so you can have more leeway for .
I get that. Its part of the game though. What do you mean by 'I Broke' as in you got a serious injury? Omg, sorry to hear ... how did it happen? Did you get it checked out & any solutions going forward with it for recovery?
Dw, Its part of the game. Being lean/shredded means you'll lose size as a natural and same with a bulk that you won't look as lean but as long as you your body no matter what stage that's all that matters.
I'm weighing 73.2kg @14% body fat from last week average weigh-in. I'm bulking right up until early December aiming to get to 77.5kg with +3lb/month time frame. I look way bigger in the mirror, a lot more full, enjoy lifting and the pump does feel great at times Not to mention the consistent progress on my lifts, hence why they say you only truly work/make improvements on your physique in the off-season. Considering I was 63.5kg when I started the bulk way I'm happy where I am but obv not satisified. My abs are barely there but my str has shot up & can only imagine at peak bulk before I cut how strong I'll be even though its temporary inb4 cut. I've given myself 16 weeks to cut from mid-December to late April to get lean for Body Power expo 2017. The way I see it is as long as I've surpassed my physique from last year I'm happy. <-- Gotta stay in slow lean bulks for as long possible for them gains.
I'm guessing by "rigorous degree" you still mean less than 37.5 contact hours a week.
why would you guess that there's considerably more to studying than contact hours! (i realise i've kind of answered my own question there lol)
i was fine in exam/revision season when there were no classes and fewer courseworks etc., but in term time i really struggled. i just did what one of the first posters said - got up at 6.15, arrived at gym at 6.55 for 7.00 open so i could get straight in a rack/bench, then showered etc. at gym and went straight to 9.00 am class. you can train after class or whatever if you don't have heavy contact hours, but you've gotta be careful to make sure you dont waste time that way. it's very easy to sleep in til 10/11, wake up and have breakfast, hit the gym and end up not being back again until 3/4, by which time most of the working day has gone.
one other tip i'll suggest is have a program that makes it easy to miss the occasional work out, for example novice full body programs. if you normally train mon wed fri, if you can't do weds because you're snowed under, go on thurs and sat instead of wed and fri, or even drop the frequency to 2x/week if necessary. doing that is not so easy if you're on a P/P/L program or texas method for example
tbh i'm scared about being able to maintain anything close to my current level of exercise when i starting working full time
Not at uni but I work 8-4 Monday to Friday. Get up at 6, in the gym by 6.45, out at 7.30 and in work by 8. Just have to fit it in, and there's always weekends.*
If you are asking this question, then you aren't prioritizing it.
What do you do in the evenings? I sometimes can't start workout til 20...
Of course if you are a morning person there is always getting up earlier (I tried and just can't do that, it makes my days miserable, I hate getting up in the morning at the time I have to already).

You going into your final year now or?
Yeah, uni is pretty great. So much freedom. The fact my uni only 'advises' you to attend lectures has been a god send. Pointless hours of my life have not been wasted due to my non-attendance.
Just got hit at football hard, maybe there was an imbalance which perpetuated it.
I'm pretty ok now, apart from flat bench.
Well i don't love my body. It's s*** but i'll sort it.
Decent! Sounds like you're making good progress. My end bulk weight in April will be similar to yours currently i think.
Then do it all again for like a year haha. Rinse repeat.

'Easy to sleep in until 10/11' LOL. That would be early af bro.
In the words of the best bodybuilder in the world (Jason Genova) 'Not in the AM bro'.
I frequently get up at 11-12. Gym. Grab lunch at 3, i go into uni about 4. Do some work 4-6. Dinner time awaits thereafter.

This. When i leave uni, i will train Sat and Sun. Therefore only needing to train 2 of the 5 week day evenings. Not too difficult.
I did alright not great. I got into QMUL missed my offer from UCL/KCL.
What can you do? Just moving on forward with my life.
Wbu? I remember speaking to you quite a while back.
Ah sorry to hear mate, but at least you got into a decent university! Yeah I got into Newcastle A* in chemistry was a surprise. Hope things turn out alright for you.

Train at weekends then mate...
i had virtually 0 spare time in 4th year, doing literally the bare minimum of work (i.e. nothing but what was directly assessed). in y1/2/3 i did trampolining/gymnastics 3 evenings per week, this year i was lucky to make it once per week and occasionally twice, tho it did always take a back seat to lifting
don't wanna lift at weekends because family, will be living with just wife and we'll only just have moved in. my tentative plan now is similar to uni - get up 6.15, get to gym just before open then head straight to work. gonna have max 75 mins for workout tho, so taking that into account when programming... but even that's cutting it fine because i don't think my job is gonna be an 'okay you've done 9-5 you can go home' kinda thing - it'll be 'yeah i know it's 7.00 p.m. but that report really needs writing... best go in at 07.00 tomorrow' . but yea i'll see how it goes and adjust accordingly. could probably lift one weekend morning before wife gets up as she tends to sleep more than me
I genuinely don't know how I'm going to manage medical school, the gym, work and socialising. So any medics/vets out there - how do you cope?!
You have to eliminate all your dead time. I spent so much time sitting around texting people, doing things like browsing Reddit and posting TSR. Now I go to uni nice and early; do my work; come home, get food, go to the gym; get more food and do the other work i need to do; then I have the rest of the night to do whatever I want.

I find going to the gym by myself reduces the amount of time I spend there. That way I can whack headphones in, don't have to talk to anyone and can pace myself for 90 second rest periods in between sets. For example I can do chest and triceps in 75 minutes with a warm up, 105 if you add in cardio.
