How to work out UMS Marks?

In my T5 mathematics exam (CCEA) I got 64 / 100 raw marks and my uniform mark was 127 out of a maximum of 153.

64 / 100 * 153 = 97.92 (98 UMS) so where on earth did CCEA get 127 UMS from? This is so I know how to grade my own past papers by the way I am in no way complaining about my grades lol.

Here is the UMS scale:

C = 132 - 153 UMS D = 110 - 131 UMS E = 88 - 109 UMS F = 66 - 87 UMS G = 44 - 65 UMS

Paper 1 (non calc) and paper 2 (calculator) combined made up 55% of the final grade.

UMS are not worked out like a percentage which is what you have done. I need more information to check the conversion.

UMS is very rarely just mapping like you've done (i.e % in terms of raw marks correlating to % in UMS). The UMS for each grade is useless (and most likely fixed each year), it's raw marks to UMS that matters instead of UMS to grade, if you see what I'm saying.

I think it's just something you have to take for granted. Some examples from 2014, there was one exam where 71/75 was 90% in terms of UMS and another where 62/75 was 90%. They no doubt reflect the difficulty of the exam as well as how people performed.
