History at Exeter with AS grades ABC but predicted AAB

Hello, what are my chances of getting an offer from Exeter with these AS grades and predicted grades bearing in mind the requirements are A*AA-AAB?

Subjects are Film studies,History and English Lit

If you don't get an offer for the Streatham course, they might well give you one for the (inferior) course at Penryn.

It would be easier for you to look at the specifications below and see the difference in the courses. Penryn has lower requirements, but less choice of modules and, to my mind, less impressive staff.

Ah okay thanks now I understand I thought there was only the streathym one. After looking at the penryn I can undestand why the requirements are lower because those modules seem real boring to me. Do you think I would stand any chance of the better course? Also say I didn't get into streathym and had to choose between penryn and other non-russel uni like UEA or Huddersfield that offer a course I like more Do I still go for Exeter which is more prestigious and higher in league tables for History or do I go for non-russels that are not as high in league tables but that have modules I prefer.

RG is not the be all and end all. Bath, Lancaster and St Andrews, for example, are at least the equal of most RG unis and better than some. Overall, I would suggest the course is most important but within limits. UEA has a good history course, but I wasn't even aware Huddersfield had one.

Yeah Huddersfield uni is actually 15th in the history league tables ahead of liverpool,bath leeds and other good unis. Also it only requires BBB as well.

And this is one of the best examples you can find of why so-called 'league tables' are untrustworthy, especially the Guardian version. (Note that there are three domestic rankings - Times, CUG and Guardian - and all are different.) To describe Huddersfield as being on a par with Warwick, York and Leeds, for example, is simply ludicrous. The CUG rates it 37th. A couple of years ago the Guardian ranked Brunel fourth (yes fourth!) for History - now it is a more reasonable 39th.

The fact that Huddersfield only want BBB should make you very suspicious, not ecstatic. If something looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it probably is a duck!

I see what your saying and I only put Huddersfield as they recommend that you put one down with lower requirements. UEA is 21st on times and 10th on Guardian. What do think of this as a choice? It's more in my range as it requires AAB

Yes, UEA would be on my list if I were applying for History now.

Lower, but BBB?

I may put down Kent instead as seems decent with ABB requirements. What do you think?

Kent is 23rd and 19th
