Is it weird/uncommon to attend freshers at a different Uni?

A few of my friends are having their freshers week (London), one week before mine (not in London). So I was wondering if it would be considered odd or weird if I went to both..?

Considering that I'll be a two hour drive away from them (once I move) I thought it would be nice to have some final fun times together before it all begins.

What is freshers like in London? When you meet people, are they likely to ask where you're going for Uni? Will it be awkward when/if I respond with a Uni far from there?

I'd say it's very weird and very uncommon. Freshers is focussed on a group of people leaving home, joining a new institution and finding out about new friends, based on their Faculty, department, course, and social groups. The questions and conversations are all about what course are you on, what are your hobbies, where are you living etc. If you aren't even attending that university then what are you adding? It isn't like a general, week long house party. There are lots of fixed events like Library inductions, department inductions, IT inductions where your friends will be going to university organised things which might have social activities associated. There's simply no place or role at all for someone who isn't attending that University during Fresher's week. You won't even get into the majority of events. Very weird to tag along for a week. One night out of the Freshers environment by your mates, to meet up with you, fine - try to attend another Uni's whole Freshers week - very weird.
