There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy, young man.

The only problem is there is no such thing as "heaven".

Only this life and this earth.
No afterlife , no heaven or hell or narnia.

We are nothing but evolved apes.

Some are less evolved than others.

You're clearly still in the hairy knuckle-dragging stage.

Alas, the only thing bright about you seems to be your orange fur.

He was probably a delusional individual, or else things other people wanted him to say (claiming he was the Son of God) were later attributed to him by the Gospel authors.

Jesus was a hippie, preaching peace and love in a community.

If he existed and again that's a big if , he was probably a very charismatic person who managed to convince a lot of people.
Like celebrities these days.
But from that to being god , the road is long.

Jesus existed, it is a fact. He is mentioned in Roman sources.

I wish he was only that.
He also talked about religion and god an all that.
If he was only about peace I would support him, but he was about religion as well.

Well, hippies can also talk about gods when they take some prohibited things. Jesus didn't write the Bible.

I don't know who wrote the bible.
And to be honest I don't care.
I hate all religions.
Atheist forever.

But he also said things that cannot be interpreted in any other way than to mean that he was claiming to be the son of god. He claimed divinity. Emperors did this at the time. For a carpenter to do to probably meant he suffered from a delusional disorder.

I agree, we are only bald bipedal monkeys, though we are also pretty amazing (by our own standards that is!)

think you got way too many misconceptions about Christianity
Original post by Fullofsurprises
People are just much more informed nowadays and easily recognise the main tenets of 'official Christianity', such as virgin birth, the holy Trinity, Jesus as God / Son of God / God-imbued man, miracles, ascension, etc, etc, as so much nonsense. Without all that clobber, organised Christ-ians have a hard time doing the convincing and most new recruits to Christianity these days are either the less educated and dimmer sort of people, or else are simply moving between sects. (Most evidence points to the latter.)

Doesn't mean Christianophobia is right.

just a reminder that the worst mass shooting in American history was a genocide against gay people and it happened in recent months

Never said it was. I just said in general, Christianophobia is becoming more prevalent than homophobia.

Oh please, what is Christianophibia?!

If you know what Islamophobia or homophobia is, then you know what Chrstianophobia is.

Criticism of religion is not '[insert your religion here]-ophobia'

Hating individuals because they have that religion undoubtedly is.

The difficulty is that many religious propagandists are now deliberately conflating the first with the second.

Um, what did my comment have to do with misconceptions about Christianity?

I always suggest to any Creationist who denies evolution, pay a visit to Monkeyworld in Dorset. It's impossible to visit that place for any length of time and not notice how similar in characteristics and behaviour many primates are to us humans.

Ridiculous, no ideology is above criticism.

Christianophobia doesn't = criticism of Christianity

God could have simply made them similar.
