Rank your A-Levels in terms of; -Difficulty -Enjoyment -Respectability -Most relevant to future prospects
For me;
Difficulty: 1) Maths 2) Business Studies 3) Economics (for me)
Enjoyment: 1) Economics 2) Business Studies 3) Maths
Respectability: 1) Economics 2) Maths 3) Business Studies
Prospects: 1) Economics 2) Maths 3) Business Studies
Difficulty: They are all pretty difficult imo but, 1) Further Maths (we only do AS FM at my school) 2) Chemistry 3) Maths 4) French
Enjoyment: 1) Maths 2) French 3) Chemistry 4) Further Maths
Respectability: 1) Maths 2) Chemistry 3) Further Maths 4) French
Prospects: 1) Maths 2) Chemistry 3) French 4) Further Maths (I put it last simply because you won't be at a huge disadvantage just because you didn't take Further Maths at AS/A-Level)
Really? I have physics at AS level but in the UK the third a-level can be pretty much anything
Yep, in some east European / south Asian countries they prefer Physics for some reason. Medical Physics is a thing, apparently. Either way, I've still kept Math and Phys side-by-side for A2 hoping to drop one in the near future
I did Psychology A-Level and obtained a grade A. I would say that it was difficult but enjoyable.
- There is a lot of science/biology that I did not expect, also some maths with statistics - In general a lot of information is taught, by my A2 exam I was a bit shocked at the amount of stuff I would have to revise
But if you dedicate enough time to it, obtaining a good grade is very possible.
Maths is harder, i said that in my post . Doesn't mean its more respectable.
As for prospects i'm hoping to do economics at University, therefore nothing is more relevant to my prospects than ..well.. economics.
I can understand why some see maths as being more respectable due to it being harder, but the simple fact is, economics is more relevant to the real world, unless you go on to do engineering, computing, or teach maths itself, Maths has very little relevance to real life whatsoever, especially some of the extremes they require you to learn at A-level, with no context whatsoever, you don't learn why you are doing it, you just learn it. Therefore i see it as less respectable.
could say the same about what you learn on your economics degree
I loved all of my subjects! The reason I put biology lower for enjoyment is because I like the challenge of maths and chemistry. I would've liked to have done further maths as well but I'd probably get a U
