Hi would I be able to apply to the gap year programme and the apprentice programme(specifically the degree apprentice programme that I will mention on the application.)

Hi Nc_x,

Yes, you are able to apply for both the Apprenticeship and Gap Year (Futures) schemes!
But you are unable to apply for the same scheme and different roles (for example: Apprenticeship - Business & Apprenticeship - Technical)

Good luck,
Kate
Hi. I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I guess there's no harm in asking....

Is it too late to apply for the 2016 gap year scheme? I've seen people in the application process for what looks like a few months, so I guess its unlikely.

Are there any other schemes for pre-university students that I could apply for that start in the years 2016 - 2017?

Thanks.

Hi James,

Unfortunately all of our roles starting in 2017 are closed. However, our 2018 roles will open shortly if you would like to apply.

Kind regards,

Hello, I applied for the Business specialist apprenticeship role back in January of this year, I past the assessment centre close to that time. I was wondering if anyone has had a placement or found a role within IBM from the 2016 candidates? The first part of the application was quick, is it normal for the matching process to take this long?

Hi BV876, we have messaged you about this!
HI!
My boyfriend is looking at the apprentice/degree program in business and applying as soon as possible. however, im planning to go to university and we're hoping to be able to live close/together. Obviously i dont know where im going to uni yet so we were wondering if he could choose his base location once i get uni offers in? (January i think). Thank you!
Hi,
When are the gap year schemes scheduled to start usually? I'm looking to apply for a business gap year placement but am worried about making commitments in the summer holidays that I would have to cancel. Are you able to have a certain number of days off?

Hey Courtney Jade,

We do ask candidates to be flexible but they can select their preference with regards to location at the assessment centre, we have locations across the country but our main offices are in Winchester (Hursley), London (South Bank), Portsmouth (North Harbour) and Warwick.

Thnks,

Hey Cass,

They should be open by the end of this week - it's great that you're interested in our Futures scheme!
All of our employees get 25 days off plus bank holidays so hopefully that works out in terms of your other commitments.

Thanks,
Kate
Hello, so many questions!

-Where are the gap year schemes operated? If the location requires us to move away from home, will accommodation/living costs be covered? Also is the scheme paid?

- How much prior knowledge would be required for the Technology role? I'm interested in technology but don't really know much in regards to software building etc..

Thank you!

Hey, teenhorrorstory,

No worries - fire away!

The gap year schemes are operated nationwide, with our main offices being in Winchester (Hursley), London (South Bank), Portsmouth (North Harbour) and Warwick.

IBM don't cover the cost of accomodation/living for any of our schemes apart from the Extreme Blue summer internship but you will be paid a salary of £15,000. When you've been made an offer you will be added to a Facebook page which will help you find housemates.

You don't need much knowledge or any experience just a passion for business and technology. You get a lot of training and support when you start.

Hope that helps!

Hey there, got a question about the Apprenticeship scheme - when can I submit my application form? I tried clicking on the link on your website but it takes me to a form which tells me to enter my email address etc.

Hey Daniel,

Our Apprenticeship scheme is not yet open, the form is so you can register your interest, once this is completed you will receive an email notification when our roles open. This should be around January time!

Good luck,

Hi, is it too late to apply for an apprenticeship at the age of 21, going to be 22 on the 9th of February. I went through a difficult time with family during and after A levels, been working as a shift runner at KFC since. Will I be considered?

Hi Scaphrax,

Our apprenticeship has no upper age limit so feel free to apply - it's great you have an interest and I'm sure you will have lots of examples for your application form from your time at KFC!

Thanks,

Hi,

So firstly download the relevant application form:
http://www-05.ibm.com/employment/uk-en/graduate/applicationform/

Then upload it to the relevant role - apply for job and create a login
http://www-05.ibm.com/employment/uk-en/undergraduates.html

Then if successful you will be given a link to our IPAT tests - which has a mixture of mathematical and sequence related problems.

Then you would be invited to attend an assessment centre which would feature a business interview, presentation and group exercises.

Then you would be invited to attend a business interview - and hopefully receive a job offer.

Hope that helps,
Kate
Hello, I have just recently starting looking into doing an apprenticeship, are there specific age requirements to be eligible for these, I am 25? I am considering applying for a business apprenticeship. I do not have GCSE or A levels (rather the international equivalent to them). I am legally able to work in the UK without sponsorship from IBM.
Would the technology placement future scheme be appropriate for someone looking for experience related to computer science? And would I need to know any programming as I've never done it before?
