What is the formula for Actual Size and Magnification?

..and also what's the unit? Thanks...

Not sure about the units but the formula is

Magnification = measured size/actual size

I always remeber it as magma
Magnification = size of image/ actual size of object

Magnification doesn't have units. The size of the image you usually measure in mm but covert into micrometres or nanometres to work out the actual size.

Thanks guys!

Pink_Sparkles : how do you convert it? so before I divide the image size by actual size I need to convert it first? I don't know which one to convert...is it the magnification, actual size or image size?
Right, I looked at a question and it says work out the magnification, with the actual length being 0.8mm

So, you need to measure the picture and convert the units to mm too

I think there is 1000nm to 1mm.

1 x 10^9 nm = 1 m

1 m = 100 cm = 1000 mm

so 1 x 10^9 nm = 1000 mm
and 1 mm = 1 x 10^6 nm = 1,000,000 nm.
You need to make sure the size of the image and the actual size are both in the same units before you divide to find magnification. For example, if the actual size is 5 micrometres and you measure the image to be 40mm. Convert the mm to micrometres (x by 1000). So, 40000/5 = 8000. The magnfication is x 8000

You are aware that this thread is over 10 years old?

I don't quite get what you don't understand about actual length. It means how long it is.
How do you find the actual size when u are only given the magnification??

measured/actual
i remember it as MAgnification where M stabds for measured and A is actual
the unit for magnification is times as in multiplication
