so would the investment banking department not do IPOs?
investment banking will have the industry/country coverage teams who oversee the general relationship (and likely any more technical/specific modelling) with clients but liaise with product bankers in m&a and cap markets and the product teams like m&a who specialise in deal execution.
So yeah, as a coverage banker you might work with equity cap markets on an IPO but it's not what you specialise in.
the specialist cap markets bankers will be in CMO.
Lol that nomura logica though, 14mins. Managed to get to about question 22 with confident answers, lets see how it goes. Feeling good about this one for some reason
The Investment Banking department (and the industry teams in particular) usually takes care of the valuation part of the IPO (i.e. they establish a price range for the company's stocks), then ECM (Equity Capital Markets) takes care of the proper offering (looks for investors willing to buy that company's stocks, bargains to sell them at a good price based on the valuation work done by IBD).
So it's not that IBD only does M&A or Capital Markets just do IPOs or debt offerings, it's more of a collaboration between the two.
I'd love to know this, I understand they have to do it because of verification but imagine having to sit the Citi talent q test or any for that matter theyre giving me enough stress now as it is ffs
I do know Citi are mugs so yes they do, also Lazard do. Which isnt surprising given the tests they both have.
****ed that Citi test. Reckon I got 10/12... That okay you reckon?
Its quite easy, don't know what everyone is complaining about lol. I missed two of the Qs because I made a mistake on my calculator. Wish I didn't have such sweaty fingers :L.
I reckon people in here will find it easy to get 12/12 ngl.
You can totally get 10/12 for Talent Q mate. No worries. I got about 10/12 last year
I'm pretty sure I've passed Credit Suisse tests, it says application received a few days after the tests. Anyone else have this on their status? surely it would give an instant fail right

Well, no one has said they have been rejected yet, same with MS, so i can only assume they're going to click a button that begins that process sometime soon.
Contact HR and tell them you are applying with a different email address. They sometimes automatically reject multiple profiles. Depends on the bank though, some have new systems so your old profile will have been deleted anyway (BAML, Barclays, Citi etc.)
