UCAS points per unit?

Hey,

I'm just wondering if UCAS points work PER UNIT, as I did 2 extra ones and achieved a distinction and merit in them.

I can't find a calculator or advice online as it sums up the whole grade as 3 different ones, eg, Merit Merit Pass.

So would this add UCAS points or not, if anyone else did extra units and know?

So what's the point in extra units? Is it just generally good to have done extra units for employers or university's?

(I just got accepted to London Met today, I was under requirements but got in through clearing, so maybe my units helped. But I know many that accepted students with lower entry requirements than needed, through general applications and clearing)
