Hello everyone, bit of an update. As I wrote in last week, I had been transferred from the TSP reserve list to the CSR/1666/16 HMRC Band HO Tax Professional Programme 2016 reserve list, as I guess they'd filled all the slots on TSP. Had this email through today:

Further to your application for the Tax Specialist Programme and the e-mail you received advising that we would consider offering appointments to other roles in HMRC.

I am pleased to be able to offer you an opportunity to join HM Revenue and Customs as a Tax Professional / Operational Delivery Caseworker at Higher Officer in Manchester.

This is a role in an exciting and challenging environment in HMRC. You will be part of a dynamic team working together with energy and enthusiasm and focusing on tackling tax evasion and non-compliance. The work is varied and interesting, it can be challenging but also rewarding. Training comprises of a mixture of e-learning, face to face and practical exercises and you may be required to undertake study, complete learning assessments and pass tax professional modules and exams within a given period.

Exciting news! There is still hope out there for us reserve listers. Not counting my chickens just yet as it's only a provisional offer with no set start date and subject to pre-employment checks etc. But promising nonetheless. Anyone else going to be working in Manchester on Evasion and Non-compliance?

hey , have you receive any more update regarding your application yet. I was given a provisional offer in Manchester too.

No, no formal offer yet. Went in last Thursday with my documents and received an email today to fill in my DBS and health records form. I was told on thursday that a formal offer will be sent out in about 6 weeks if everything is okay.

Hey, no further updates yet. I received my provisional offer on 23rd of August and was emailed through a health declaration more or less straight away which I returned. I also completed a page on CSR which was basically a check box to consent to a DBS check as far as I know. I haven't had any emails to confirm my acceptance of the provisional offer, and the status of my application is now waiting for pre employment checks to be completed.

As far as I know, I'm just waiting for the checks now. I've provided my employer's HR email/contact number etc. Only thing is that other people here are saying that after a few weeks they got a dbs declaration etc and I'm not sure if I still have to wait for that. Maybe it's cos I'm already civil service, I'm not sure, but the status of it on csr makes me think the next communication will be the outcome of my checks and, fingers crossed, not to submit more info to actually commence the checks. Probably a different process for each role/grade/location.

Well done on your offer, see you in Manchester soon hopefully!

Im wondering if we're all going to start together. The guy who checked my docs was saying he was recruited through interview and it was just him on his own who started but it won't be as scary for us as there are a few people starting all at once? I didn't get a provisional offer until August and I know there were quite a few other people who took all their docs in on the same day as me so maybe they're pushing the last few people's checks now and will give formal offers/start dates once they're done.

Who knows! This whole process has been a whole lot of not knowing haha!

Hey guys,

Just a quick update regarding the O grad role, I received a call just now regarding the application and they told me to bring in some documents and I think they will begin the checks and stuff soon. She said they have only started doing the calls now and she had a lot of dates to come in and hand in the documents and therefore I think the start date is either end of October or start of November.

This was for London and you have to report to Euston tower.

Hope this helps you guys out.

Same thing here too. Received a call couple of days ago and I'll report to Euston Tower next week for docs check.

Not even sure if I'll have to take docs in, as I've already taken them to the assessment centre where they took copies of everything. Again, who knows!

yeah the thought of it being better paid than most entry jobs is whats keeping me sane in all this haha!
When your DBS certificate came through, did hmrc request it from you or do you just have to send it to them? When i filed it it, it said it had to be sent to them within 7 days receiving it, but never said how or where to send...

hey Mcdude,

please i need to find out about your DBS . When you receive the certificate what did you do with it ? I can remember saying something about sending it within seven day of receiving it
When I received my DBS for my current role the DBS people contact HMRC and let them know the results, I didn't do anything in that instance (didn't even take it in when I started with the other documents).

I don't know what they are doing for TSP applicants since they didn't bother redoing my DBS but if they don't ask I wouldn't do anything
