The Student Room Group

Labour is the party of the future! Yes we can, yes we will.

Our party now moves in a new direction towards a brighter fairer world. Labours centrism was a failure. It led to less support.

Now thousands of young idealist supporters are following labour under Corbyn. They voted for Corbyn. They want a better Britian, free university tuition, nationalised railways, a free NHS, and an end to all airstrikes in Iraq and Syria.

The momentum movement is already creating a youth wing to get youngsters interested in politics and influence their parents and teachers with the right ideas and thoughts and who knows influence local authorities too! Youth directed governance would be a great idea. Britain is not short of energetic youths to help spread the word.
They can be our voice with momentum groups in all schools and influencing surrounding communities. Ensuring people do the correct thing and notifying them of their mistakes.

The left in Britain is coming back to life because of years of Tory austerity cuts, rightwing attitudes, Brexit racism etc. Labour has a huge number of new members a sign that its doing something right.

Together we can build a better Britain for all.

Labour Yes we can and yes we damn well will !

Labours centrism was a failure. It led to less support.

It was under Blair we won three elections. Even when Labour lost in 2010 it held on to 258 seats, about 80 more than the Tories had in opposition. In 2015 Miliband got another million votes than 2010, though unfortunately lost.

Now Corbyn is polling far worse than Miliband did at a comparable point in the cycle. Miliband was 12 points ahead of the Tories at this point and still went on to lose. Corbyn is 12 points behind. He's the most unpopular opposition leader since polling began. No-one has ever came back from this far behind to win an election.

50% of those who voted for Labour in 2015 and voted Leave are saying they will not support Labour at the next election; a loss of around 1.5 million votes.

Many cite Corbyn's desire for open borders, his demand that we fling open the doors and allow anyone who wants to come to settle here. Corbyn also said Turkey should be welcomed into the EU. Any eurosceptic credentials he might have had are wiped out by his crazy immigration policy.

In fact, around one third of Labour voters say they prefer Theresa May to Corbyn. He is painfully unpopular, but people in Momentum wouldn't realise this because they exist in a bubble where everyone thinks like they do, and they assume that means everyone in the country must think as they do.

Now thousands of young idealist supporters are following labour under Corbyn. They voted for Corbyn.

Actually Owen Smith won the 18-24 segment. And Scotland. And those who were members of the party before 2015.

But please, continue with your pompous Soviet-style rhetoric about all these ideologically pure youngsters marching in lockstep towards our glorious socialist future. Voters eat that **** up.

I can see that if labour do badly in the general election in a few years time there will be an even clearer division in the party and a I view a split to not be overly unlikely
yep

Gilad Atzmon has severe mental problems. Something in his past caused him as a Jewish person to become insanely anti-semitic. Such a thing is possible, and Atzmon is its poster child.

With momentum youth, society can be influenced to support modern labour thinking and ideology. Teachers can be influenced by their pupils and communities can better understand labours ideas. Schools can have their own Momentum crews all over Britain, informing teachers to tell pupils that labour is good. A system where pupils get to vote the best teacher. Ones with lowest score go back to PGCE training.

Crews will spread through the community, helping with posters and events that bring the community together. It's this kind of thing that leads to people having a sense of belonging and believing in the labour way.

People can either be part of the movement with the majority or be on their own against the movement, but it will be far more comfortable to be in.

Youths can be very energetic in communities and encourage support among people for the correct team and that's labour!

With all this effort we can gain more voters and a sense of loyalty.

Labour as they are now are simply unelectable. From Ed Milliband onwards they have given the Cons the biggest gift with unelectable leaders.
They have to capture the majority of votes and to do that they need the centre ground and not just that of the extreme left.

Not trusted on the economy.
Not trusted as a leader.

New thing is they arent trusted on defence.
Not very convincing when you call 52% of voters racists, millions of them are Labour supporters.

I mean just be honest, how can you seriously call yourself an advocate of 'fairness' when you can't admit that people had real reasons to vote for Brexit?

This alone is why as long as Labour supporters like you exist, the party can never be reunited.

A powerful Labour Party can encourage people to protest against what's is unfair in society.

When Cameron took over and massive austerity cuts were made, unemployed people sanctioned for several months because they were a few mins late to the job centre. Disabled having their benefits taken away because they failed an unfair shoddy test. Cuts to the NHS, air strikes in Iraq and Syria labour did nothing to encourage protest.

Now we have a party that won't stand for unfair policies by the Tories. That will support protest and mass rallies, general strikes! to not only bring about changes but to show a vote of no confidence in this Tory government.

Miliband, Brown, Blair, Kinnock etc would not have supported general strikes to get fair treatment, but Corbyn can.

Shut down all industries private and public for a day and you'll bring the government to negotiate. Repeat that for several months until they step aside or call an election.

This is what will make labour the strongest opposition ever to the Tories.

Yes you talk about all these things but where are they? Where are the mass anti-Tory rallies? The general strikes?

Also just to remind you, people voted for Brexit because they felt the EU was unfair to them, in effect a 'protest against what's is unfair in society'.

So are you sure that you aren't turning against the core voters with your 'us and them' mentality?

How exactly are you going to reunite a party by dividing it?

People need to realise, Corbynites don't need to win an election, they just need a sizeable minority of support among the proletariat; if they really are the socialists that people think they are, then they would simply hold a revolution, if the elections don't go their way.

All we need is general strikes. Momentum can start these endorsed by Corbyn. A momentum youth crew can help.

Just imagine if every place closed and went on strike for one day, schools, power stations, supermarkets, shops, then it would shake the government.
Repeat it once a month, then more frequently and a General Election will be called. People won't want to go through these strikes again and will vote labour.

Job done

Old labour would never have done this under Milliband, Brown, Blair or Kinnock.
Corbyn could....
You mean a Britain that's worse for white working class people.. LOL
You mean building a Britain that's less British. A Britain with no sovereignty ? providing labour will no doubt take us back into the EU.
A Britain that's a meaningless state in a big country, replacing British people with foreigners.
Oh and making people poorer to get more votes and re elected in the process.
I'll pass thanks.

Congratulations all Corbynistas! You have officially voted for the demise of the Labour Party.

The Conservative Party is once again the only viable option for a safe, secure and economically stable Britain, roll on a 400+ seat majority for Theresa May at the next general election!

Vote Conservative
