Hey man how's it going ? I see you've got an excessive amount of dots in your username now. Anyway how'd your exams go ?

Hahaha wats up my bro!!! The cheek already from you reminding me of them good times lol.

Yeah they went really well, thankfully got my 5A's and hoping to study Medicine but the UKCAT Medicine admissions test is a b***h man!

Wbu? How's life hanging around for you nowadays?

No I don't got to private school - sadly lol. I kinda wish I did so I could've done physics as well as chemistry and biology but oh well it didn't "fit in the columns". :frown: how many people in your year group that you know of are applying for medicine/dentistry? For me, I only know like 3 other people including those that don't go to my school. I was speaking to my guidance teacher and idk feel like she thinks "really? You, for medicine?? BAHAHAH" But my career advisor was really good basically I thought I was a bad communicator but she really helped me realise that I was a lot better than I thought I was (shout out to her) XD Also I really don't think you have anything to worry about it - for real. Like you seem like one of those people that is going to come out with an average of 800 or something 😂😂 and also has their life really together. Insh Allah we do I'll keep you updated on my ucas journey but as my 5th option I'm applying for neuroscience wby? Oh wait you already said pharmacy. My bad. Lol. But I think I'll end up with a gap year as graduate medicine is generally more competitive than undergrad and a lot of unis like re-applyerd because they're more mature and it shows their commitment. So it's work considering. Also earlier today I was really heavily thinking about Oxbridge but then after looking at some BMAT past papers I changed my mind. 😂😂😂

Oh wow! Trust me, it just feels like a normal school and really isn't anything overly special. It's not like the oxbridge of schools if that's what you had in mind!Hahaha major shout out to the careers advisor then!!!!In my Chemistry class of about 15 people (there are probably 5 altogether in the year classes) 13 are early applicants. One guy decided a few days ago no more medicine and dunno about the girl tbh. But yeah ALOT. It actually seems like there are more people in our school who are early applicants than standards!!!I may take BMAT for oxbridge if this UKCAT goes how I am currently progressing! You are smart if you got grades from a public school.Btw, don't take this the wrong way but Oxford this year took in 60% public school applicants : 40% private school applicants. Basically, if you get an average BMAT, you essentially are at an advantage so if you think you can do it, SERIOUSLY go for it. I am only applying to get an interview. Ppl say Oxbridge interviews are hell so I just want to see tbh haha. I'm probably the worst comitted applicant they have ever had!But yeah, I'll keep you updated too :smile:Yeah may take gap year but dunno. If I did I would revise UKCAT everyday and hope for like 900 in each!!!

Yeah man it's going well. Just working on my Personal Statement and UCAS stuff atm. Well done on our exams btw. Yeah the UKCAT sounds hard, is it essential to study medicine ? Do you have to achieve a certain score or something ?
I hope you get into medicine. Good Luck!

Yeah I might give Oxbridge a go considering there's not much point in me applying to Glasgow because they're cut off is too high... Yeah, it would be pretty cool to say I got an interview even if I don't actually get in. but it depends you know like I need to start focusing on school and I don't know if I can afford to invest energy into something I won't do well in so probably need to ponder over that... And I'm excited to find out what happens with offers and that but we'll just have to wait and see... And yeah, a lot of kids from private school tend to go for things like medicine law dentistry but tbh it's down to the person and honestly I'm not offended  Just have to wait and see!

Ah thanks man

How did your exams go and what you wanting to do again?

You have to do UKCAT for most uni's for medicine. Ideally, you need a good score because 20 000+ people take it and are all competing for similar universities!

Thanks bro, hope you get into what your looking at too!

Yeah it would be. Main thing I am worried about is BMAT when I need to catch up on school.

But yeah let us wait and see

I got 2A's 3B's in my exams this year. As in physics and Chemistry and Bs in maths, English and Computing Science. Anyway I want to study either physics or Marine Engineering at uni.

That seems really interesting btw what unis are you thinking of applying to... And we'll done on your exam results!

Ah nice job man! Sounds like the open ended question helped you in Chemistry hahaha jks

Best of luck with that then!

Yeah haha, I actually only think I done well in one of the open questions, the other one where you had to describe methods of improving profit and reducing impact on environment I bombed. Just really couldn't be bothered answering it, too boring haha.

Currently in the process of explaining to my dad that my UKCAT isn't high enough for Glasgow and he's having none of it lmao

Hahahaha that's made my day after a full study day tonight!

My dad wasn't much help in that perspective either though tbh, his advice was "if you don't get into medicine, put dentistry down as an option too"
I told him I may get questioned about my whole ps being geared towards medicine at an interview and he says "they interview?"

Seems like they know nothing but when I get my UKCAT score, they will research the whole web to see how mine compares hahaha

Lool, nothing is better than medicine for my dad... but I was actually considering dentistry for a while but I feel like it's too limiting and too focused. I'd rather try everything and then specialise in what I like - cardiology, neurology, etc. Tbh I kind of get tired of talking about medicine all the time - it's the only thing he ever talks about so I kind of zone out for a while I didn't want to do medicine because it was too much pressure but after my work experience I realised it's not worth chucking away something I'd love to do just because I want to rebel... I'm definitely not applying to Oxbridge lol I just can't be bothered ngl. XD But I'm applying for medicine for the right reasons now whereas if you asked me that 2 years ago I would just come up with some meaningless rubbish. lmao. I've filled in my ucas form. I'm applying for medicine at Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen - also my fifth option is definitely neuroscience at Glasgow. Inshallah everything goes well - if not, oh well probably going to cry about it for a month and then focus on applying again. I'll get over it. Lmao.
You all need to get a UKCAT/Medicine thread started cause none of you are talking about AH Chemistry

Inshallah only the best! Taking of the next 2 days for my UKCAT, school ain't gonna be happy ;/
I can't stand applying to Glasgow because they do PBL (Problem based learning - very different) and I WOULD NOT be able to learn like that. Otherwise I may have given it a shout. Probs gonna be hardcore UKCAT till Thursday exam so will get back to you and update then on the other thread!

Haha soz man, carried away with stress of the exam!
someone help me with these please?????????/

In 2002, astronomers observed a red giant star flash 10 000 times brighter than normal. Its electromagnetic spectrum revealed an intense crimson red line, wavelength 670·7 nm

in the answer scheme they have done E=LHC/1000lambda but i don't understand why its 1000 when the question states its 10000?

What's the actual question? You only posted half of it
Also, I'm just starting my 4th year chemistry at uni, so everyone feel free to PM me or tag me in here if you'd like help!
