Well, I've managed to fix a small, portable radio that was in a poor shape...
Yes, it's taken the best part of a week to fix (due to soldering iron issues), however, it's done now! And the said radio is now back to how it was, picking up very strong signals only (as opposed to nothing at all).
The radio stations it can pick up:
Upstairs:
Radio 1-4, Classic FM, BBC Northampton, Heart. Connect FM is a bit hit and miss, depending on where the radio is located.
Downstairs:
Radio 1-4. Anything else hit and miss, including Heart.
It must be noted that this is quite poor - Connect FM is transmitted from a mast that is two villages away!
Unfortunately, the signal received above is typical of the cheapo radios (either personal or with a speaker) that have just a "scan/receive" system, whereby one button scans for the next station that it can find, and the other resets the radio back to the first station it can pick up, at the bottom of the band (usually Radio 2 @ 90.1MHz).
This radio is fixed - now, it goes on eBay!
