Was that the windows 10 update you told me about before?

HP laptops are usually good - better than this Acer, anyway!

yeah, windows 8/8.1 is a bit rubbish isn't it...

Yep, my HP is reasonably light too - plus it's nice and powerful for what I need

How much battery life are you getting, and how much were you getting when you bought the laptop new?

Yes, my HP is a 4-cell and I don't know why they did that! A 6-cell would have provided much better battery life, and a 9 cell even more so...

Looks like you're going to need a new battery, though I'd recommend you get a 9-cell, instead of a 6-cell - thus, you'd get the maximum battery life possible.

The Acer Aspire is on a 9-cell and has been used for about a year or so, and hence the battery life has dropped considerably... However, if and when the Acer battery goes kaput, that is it - it will not be getting any replacements!

I am assuming that the company sacrificed the battery life for a different component of the laptop; whether it was the best decision or not, is debatable; though 9 cell batteries can be bought to replace any inferior batteries, as you have mentioned.

Indeed, and I will definitely take your advice and purchase a 9-cell battery, to maximise battery life.

Goodness, the Acer Aspire is fundamentally diabolical, you should keep it as spare or sell on eBay! :h:
