Well for me, I get home from school around 4:30 --- i start studying at 5, depending on if i really get into it i have a break then continue till dinner. Only problem is half of my laptop screen is a tv show the other maths equations. Most people's problem is social media, me, it's films, my kryptonite. Funny thing is with the biggest exams I've ever had, this method has never bothered me. I don't know what to do continue watching tv/listening to music or only textbooks.

I guess listen to nice music that doesnt distract you and use textbooks as well xxXxx

Thank you so much, you have no idea how helpful that is and it makes so much sense.
I don't know about the people at your schools, but most at mine aren't taking this year as serious as it should be. I plan to revise at least an hour each subject, some may say that sounds allot but if I want to achieve what I want to achieve later in life, how i'm feeling or how it's perceived now shouldn't be a factor. I think this goes for allot of you too. Think ahead.
Also i'm not sure about the textbooks, especially cgp they're too expensive ( they're like a tenner each, £30 for three books (triple science)). So i'm sticking to books given by school, like on Kerboodle ( has digital books, for my sciences, Spanish and maths).
I'm not sure if some of you guys are doing this already but seriously the Specification of each subject is super helpful.--- Don't study by time but each topic you cover.

Feels nice to be appreciated, thank you a lot.

Secondly, I feel the exact same way about people not taking it seriously a lot of people do that at my school as well. So I like this thread because there's a lot of like minded people.

Lastly, I recently did a book order for my GCSEs but it cost me a lot of money. However it's worth it i bought 3 books for my trip science 18.99 each and they were £56 in total but when you think about it that's not much if you get very high grades. At first I was very uneasy about by textbooks because they do cost a lot, even the basic ones but a lot of people would say there textbooks have helped a lot. I use Kerboodle as well. Imo you should buy a few textbooks they will help you.

Oh thanks!!! I go to St Olaves Grammar School which I believe was state school of the year and had student of the year 2015,its not a private school but it basically is in most aspects, just free. I do some revision mostly before tests and if I don't understand everything, but I'll most likely do more soon. I'm sure you'll get those grades if you work hard.

My school isn't that good, well it's an average school but I think I will still get good grades if I work really hard as you said.

yeah, ill buy some soon, hopefully, and I agree with what you mean about this thread. The only dilemma I have is there are some weekly tutoring programs in my area and I'm not sure if I should join or not because i'm scared It'll be useless and a waste of time. Do you think it'll be more productive for me to join a program or revise and learn by myself? I hate meeting new people in person, it'll be too distracting to actually learn.---- it sounds like a great opportunity but I don't want to waste what little time I have? What would you do? oh and also have you/ or are you going to do volunteering?

i dont do you ?
xD,well i think you will be a lot more motivated if you did a bit less or split it into smaller chunks. I can keep motivated,I guess but it's hard sometimes getting good grades is a motivation

I want to do volunteering but I haven't really looked into it, I think you should try them weekly tutor programs, I would if I were you but find out how they are for bc they might be for like people who aren't that smart or need help and you need something were they are teaching high level stuff, so I would go if it's a good learning thing. Revising by yourself is good to an extent and you have the oppurtunity to gain extra help so I would take it, just drop it if you find it useless to you.

Also by joining you will be more motivated to study than doing it yourself

Ohh cool do you know what book i should buy im doing aqa

I had a look round for you, I wouldn't reccomed CGP as they are too vauge and don't give too much info mut they do summarise well.

Try get the ones at your school if they are good ones, I got the same science ones as my school cos they prefectly match the course. However in business for example i got different book than the ones at school because the one(s) I got had better presented information, more clear and more in depth.

I posted here two sets for the AQA trip science, check they are the right course, the second set look good don't mix and match sets, buy chemistry biology and physics from the same company because it completes the information.

Also really important only buy books that say 'AQA Approved' on the front, like a little sticker thing,(if doing AQA course) because it means that the book is loads more suited to your course as it has been approved by the examboard because of how the content matches the course, All books below have that sticker.

We get maths homework every week on the friday and due on Monday at intervention what about you ?

In IB, or IGCSE? In IGCSE we finished the maths curriculum in one year, so the second year was basically us doing past papers and going over the harder stuff. We didn't have homework, but weekly past paper practices really showed who was understanding the work.

Now in IB the workload is 10x the workload in IGCSE but it's totally manageable since I get to do the subjects I really like without being forced to take the ones I hate (history, bleh!).

The CGP Science books are also an option due to their concise explanations, fact recall and application practice questions and they're also AQA approved they're my personal preference for Science, at least.

What in particular did you see as an issue with CGP with regard to their vague explanations
