Need some answer confirmation please!

Hey,

So my question was...

State the electron arrangement of the following species:

the potassium ion

the sulfide ion

For both of them I got 2, 8, 8. Does this seem right? They both seem to have the same electron configurations which seems a little odd or maybe it's to test us. Who knows.

Anyway, if anyone could confirm this I'd be very grateful, cheers!
Yep, I do believe they are both 2, 8, 8. As K = 2,8,8,1 so K+ = 2,8,8
and
S = 2,8,6 so S-2 = 2,8,8

That's what I thought, so thank you for confirming it! :smile:
