Tbh you sound like an international who's seen a socialist worker newspaper seller outside the student union and you can't believe the police weren't dragging them off.

I was trying to say relatively left compared with say Leeds.

American students are international too don' forget...

Yeah Cameron is the elite, he's like 36th in line for the throne I believe, something like that. Pure silver spoon. But for a career politician, which undoubtedly is, he's undeniably intelligent and well read. And for a tory, he could well articulate and talk to the common regular people without coming across as condescending or patronising. And even though I don't support most of his politics and policy's, I think he turned out to be one of our truly great PM's. I think he genuinely wanted the best for the country, and he had gravitas and standing on the world stage. Something I don't think Milliband, or Corbyn, have it in them. Eaton, Oxford (or was it Cam) trains the elite to think they're born to rule. Enfuses arrogance maybe, but trains them to be exemplary public figures.

Perhaps he is what it says on the tin.. an influence to them. Cameron is pragmatic, moderate and open to the kind of liberalism that the young support socially. It's not hard to see why people support him.

Regarding some of your wider points, universities see more cliques than school so i doubt they care that a bunch of lefties may not like them for it.

Regarding the shy Tory point this is also valid. When a member of the politics society one often obviously discusses each others views and i found that a lot of the time the apathetic people who were only mildly interested in politics would often end the conversation with 'but i quite like a lot of Cameron talks about'. We're not as rare as you'd think.

The state is full of Etonians, and socialism is an ideology of state power.

Socialism is mainly opposed by the middle who lose power to the elite and money to the underclass.

No, he isn't. Not remotely.

His great-great-(insert some more "greats here) grandmother was an Irish actress who had illegitimate children with William IV before he was king (he was third son, so was not expected to inherit - he only became king very late in life). She died in poverty.
