did you have a happy sixth form experience?

Im in year 13 and i'd do it all again
So far my lessons are mostly interesting but I don't have any friends I feel close to so it's quite lonely.
My sixth form experience has been pretty brilliant so far (well, most of it). When I first started at my sixth form, which is a specialist school, I was so shy that I was unable to use my voice with people that I didn't trust/wasn't close to, but after two years of therapy I can now use my voice in front of most people.

I felt truly accepted and understood for the first time, and have formed close and strong friendships that will probably last for the rest of my life. (@Ordo, you're one of them )

I had a few weird experiences when I first started at my sixth form. I had this one kid from the secondary school who walked up to me and would do stereotypical kung fu moves and yells at me. Just stood where I was like ":lolwut: :wtf:". And now he just bows to me every time he sees me.

The only major negative experience I had was my ex breaking up with me a week before my exams started.
Can't relate to people's happy experiences just yet but this year so far has been drastically amazing (moved sixth forms and repeating year 12)
no I hated sixth form - it was depressing and I lived in the library because it was so cliquey (all the people I knew went to the local college and all the cows remained :s-smilie:, the pastoral people were rubbish - consisted of a careers advisor and a finance officer... I did my exams and ran away to college  never again, but hey its way better now
Every day I go into school I feel like I'm procrastinating on some form of existential crisis that I need to deal with at some point.
I don't like sixth form and I miss yr 11! And in yr 11 all I wanted to do was leave!

Yes and no.

Yes because I got my grades.
No because I lost my social life and stopped doing things I loved.

This is what I'm worried about- losing my social life, especially in yr 13!

I'd say overall it was ok, it sure was stressful as hell. Especially in year 13 when you're constantly stressing about your uni choices on top of exams lol.
One thing I regret now was always being so moody to others 😁

Im glad i didn't stay at my 6th form loads of my friends keep complaining that its really strict mainly because they still treat them as kids and they cant leave as much as they want. I go to a sixth form college, bloody daunting but i wouldn't go back.

Your friends should understand thaf it's a tough period. Year 13 onwards, in my opinion, will be far too hectic for you to get back to having a real social life. Social life is important, but you need to learn to keep a balance. As a result of cutting off friends during year 13, I basically have no social life anymore.

Ok, thanks. I will try to keep a healthy balance!

i loved sixth form, we used to chill on our frees all our friends, play cards like saddos, go asda and get fat (its a one minute walk). overall i have happy experiences :h:

We probably go to the same school
Hmm... Have you identified the true problem?
six form is living hell. its given me depression
I like my college at my old state school, but when I redid my AS year at a private school, it was totally dreadful.
Not really, because I feel like a failure all the time lmao (thanks physics xxx). Plus my sixth form is really over-crowded and the "study rooms" are always noisy.

Was it attached to your secondary school?
TBH more and more sixth forms that are attached to secondary schools are taking more what they can handle and I don't know why?
My time during sixth form was alright to be fair. I had some canny teachers who joked on and had some pretty good banter. Now that I'm in uni however, its the complete opposite.

nope, my sixth form experience was as bad as you could imagine. Especially the second year, I got really depressed, gave up on studying, gave up on homework, didnt social much got very disheartened by everything. At times, i vividly remember that sick to the stomach feeling of 'you know you are going to fail'.

Why did you feel that way?
