2017 Oxford Biomedical Science Applicants

Hi! I know this is quite specific but after the open day I wanted to meet some people who will be applying to the same course as me

I'm applying for Biomedical science at either Queen's or University College, they both look amazing!

Anyone else?

Hi,

I am applying to biological sciences. I just wanted to put myself in this thread since it is a closely related subject with biomedical sciences. I spent 1 year thinking which course should I choose, between biomed, biochem and just pure biology. The biological sciences course seemed the most appealing to me, plus I would avoid doing BMAT ..I am an international student so it would be hard coming twice to UK...
I was thinking of going to St Hugh's
There is a thread for all biological/bimed/biochem applicants but it is pretty much dead ( I tried reviving it....Like I was doing CPR )
me... hopefully

I'm thinking BMS too! I'm stuck between Keble and St. Anne's. which other universities will you apply to for biomedical sciences?

I am applying for biological sciences at Oxford still do not now which college!

I am an international applicant so I am looking for scholarships . In my country there are scholarships given only for Oxbridge and UCL.....so yeah....
Hey guys-

I am currently trying to decide between biological sciences and biomed-
I really love biology so I was looking at biological sciences ,and recently came across biomedical science! The reason it appealed to me was because my favourite parts of biology are really all of the human bits (immunology, defence etc)
But I also don't want to go into research, I want to go to university to study a subject I enjoy (biology!) and excel as an academic, but don't plan on going into the bio industry.
biological sciences vs biomedical science? Would it maybe be better to go with biological sciences as it is a bit more broad? Especially as I don't want to go into research? Just a bit confused and I have to decide ASAP of course!

Any thoughts/advice or feedback would be much appreciated!

Thank you and good luck!

Hi, what alevels are you currently studying and what as grades did you get? Just sizing up the competition haha
Anyone else applying for Neuroscience? I'm applying for Biomed at Oxford as you either specialise in cell and systems or Neuroscience, and when I emailed they said they are happy to receive Neuroscience personal statements.. I'm also applying to UCL, Exeter, Bristol, and I'm not sure about a fifth  Already have A levels A*AA in bio, history and english, and I'm doing chem and psychology this year, with A*A predictions  So excited already!!!

Both will overlap a lot! I'd go for biological because it will allow you to do pretty much all of the things covered in biomed if you want to  And if you find you are still enjoying the human side more, you can specialise in later years anyway. Whether you want to go into research or not doesn't really matter at this stage, but I'd defo say biomedical science is gonna send you down a research route, so that's something to think about too!

I am - I've applied to four Neuroscience courses as well as Oxford Biomed. I love the course since even though I'm pretty certain about Neuroscience, there's still that breadth of study within bio at first

I'm applying to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen (Neuroscience with Psychology) and Dundee! Oxford's the only English uni I've applied to, go big or go home I guess hah. And it's.... going? Need to work on timing and actually crack down on Section 3. You?
