An inspector calls - mr Birling - English/ Literacy

So I need to write a short essay ( only 4 paragraphs) on how mr birling is presented by preistley throughout an inspector calls
I need to add ideas in about context, socialism/ politics e.g: him being a capatilist, I also need to say how he changed through out the play and lastly I need to include why Priestley has chosen him to be this 'type' of character?! and then I need to include all the normal obvious things such as evidence
Has anyone got any ideas?
I'm not going to do your homework for you, but there's the whole idea that he represents capitalism - every man for himself in business, if you fail it's your own weakness - versus the Inspector who represents socialism, with the opposite ideas. The Inspector rant towards the end (blood and fire and all that) is supposed to be what will happen if capitalism keeps destroying society.

You've already had some good advice, but if you want anything else to talk about, then you could write about how Priestley uses dramatic irony when Mr Birling talks about how good the Titanic is (forgive me for being vague, I studied the play a while ago). How it makes him seem less credible as a character, and the effect this doubt has in other parts of the play etc. That should provide you with an opportunity to talk about context and the writer's methods. Hope this helps.
