A row has erupted over a BBC sex change programme for children as young as six, which follows a transgender schoolboy who takes sex-change drugs.


Unbelievable.

If I were the parent of a transgender child, I would allow them to play with whatever they want, but I wouldn't go down the road of having puberty-stopping drugs injected into them until they were much older and aware of the life-changing consequences.

The BBC should pull the programme.

Disgraceful for the BBC to give something like this publicity.
This is pretty worrying. I would take it off TV instantly. Kids are going to get the wrong messages. I disliked football a lot and I cant stand watching it. does not mean I am any less of a Man. nor transgender at all,you can be a man and still like dress up or ponies and princesses. there is no need for people like this on TV it is horrible and if someones personality traits are "A minority" you know something is wrong.

I would also bar people taking hormone drugs that were not needed until 16 or 18 still not decided yet.
And they say there isn't an LGBT agenda in the media!

I dont agree with teaching kids about sex/gender etc from a young age because if thats how they truly are they will know for themselves if they were transgendere by the time they're in puberty without it being waved in their face constantly.

Generally speaking, unless the content of a program is either disturbing, or illegal (or otherwise subject to guideline, ie. pornography etc.), it shouldn't be pulled from the air, in my opinion. I'm not supporting nor opposing this programme, I apply this to all programmes, regardless of genre or nature. I don't see how this is damaging to children in any way, since it is not actively encouraging this behaviour, rather portraying it.

What I find more disturbing is the fact that it's portraying stereotypes such as "dolls = girls, sport = boys", which are harmful to society. I'm probably sounding like a true SJW now, but it is a harmful concept.

I think this programme is utterly ridiculous. I'd say one of the 'key points' in identifying as transgender/gay is that you discover and come to that conclusion yourself through your own experiences. Not by watching some PC TV channel devised by BBC lunatics when you're 6 years old.

If children can't consent to sexual activity then they certainly can't consent to a physical sex change. It's that simple. It is astonishing to me that this degeneracy is being allowed to occur.

You would support a program about a Child who was a nazi that found it hard growing up in a school with black and jewish people and was always racist?
Haha, I have got to say i would love to have the agent that represents TG folk publicising my problems.For a group of people that are less than 0.5% of the population they are never out of the headlines or of the various talk boards.

Disabled people are 40x their number in society. What wouldnt they give to have a fraction of their (TG) profile and people talking about the problems they face.
I can't imagine 6 year olds will really understand wtf's going on with that, not sure if having confused kids is a great plan.

That said some basic understanding of gender identity stuff from a young age would be handy. Can't be bad for trans folk to have people that grow up understanding what's going on with em. Don't think this is the way to go about it though.

Surprised the advert uses standard gender stereotyping (football = lad, barbie = girl) to illustrate the point. We're gonna have lads going "wtf I don't mind playing with my sister's barbie, I must be a girl wtf no" and that's not ideal. So they've done something a bit weird and seem to have picked the worst way of going about it.

In conclusion, I am not in favour of the programme's existence because the kids are gonna be confused as hell over nothing.
