hey im also looking for a tutor for bio. where is ur tutor based/what area. i really need tuition for bio as my teachers arent that good. oh and how mch do u pay and stuff. thnkz!

My tutor is based in south west London l. I found her on UK tutors and she charges £30 per hour. I've only had one lesson so not able to say how good she is however she seems pretty good - I think I need to give her more time as she did get an A* herself and has actually worked with AS bio students who got a D at GCSE apparently and when I told her I am aiming for a B she was like we can aim for much higher so she must be quite good
Have a look you may find a good tutor too but most charge £30 for a level
What sort of further reading should we do if we are taking biology and chemistry ? Any suggestions?

I don't know if you need to do any further reading... For bio, use your exam board endorsed textbook. With Chemistry, I don't think you need to really do any reading -never mind Further reading loll
If you're very interested in a subject/ curious about a subject area, ask your teachers questions, maybe read things like http://chemguide.co.uk online-it's apparently pretty good with explanations . See if you can find any good youtube videos for chem/bio.
I'd deffo say to focus on the spec and exam technique though- I guess it is all about passing those exams eh

Oh wow that's cheap!
Whereabouts is that? As in Tooting, Mitcham, Streatham?
Are you teaching and studying for ur a levels as well?
I'm doing OCR too so it would very helpful to know where ur tuition centre is
Thanks! (You ended up helping me when you asked me about a bio tutor first)

I got an A* in chemistry. Was half a mark off an A* in bio (arghh... Never mindd, lol)-it's being remarked
With revision; I crammed everything in during exam period (using the time between two exams). Prob the worst advice ever, but there you go.
Make sure you listen in class and UNDERSTAND during the year! Don't leave that place until you do understand-esp with chem. Trust me, if you grasp and understand concepts during the year, you'll be ontop of things and won't really need to
revise much at the end (becuase you won't need to spend time getting your head round things-you can just focus on exam technique?) Ask your teachers questions in class/after lessons. That's what they're there fir- and trust me, they'll be happy that you care.
Past papers are your best friend in May/June- never forget that!
I had crappy bio teachers (they skipped over content and didn't even finish the spec), one not so great chemistry teacher, the other one was good(becuase he was very encouraging) . So if you have don't have the best teachers, don't worryy.
Don't stress over alevels-they really aren't as bad as some people say.
I can give you subject specific tips if you want, lemme know
Good luck

Do you have any tips for an A* in chemistry?

heyy, its mostly in groups but some students do do one-to-one. go in and ask bcoz im not 100% sure if they will let you. depends on the teachers schedule. hope i kinda helped
Hi guys:smile:,
Thought I'd leave some links you might find helpful whilst studying Alevels Chemistry and Biology:

Chemistry:
http://www.chemguide.co.uk/ (a resource; almost like a textbook- if you don't understand something, chemguide is meant to be pretty good with explanations etc.)

http://www.a-levelchemistry.co.uk/ (Alevel Chemistry topic based questions-very useful when studying for module tests during the year. If your teachers don't hand these out, there's some here! Look for 'hw'/ 'assessed homework' or 'test' under each topic. You should find markschemes on the website aswell ).

https://www.youtube.com/user/MaChemGuy (A level chemistry youtube videos; very comprehensive and well explained incase you miss class or something- I'm not sure what specs he covers but I know he deffo did OCR A)

http://pastpapers.org/ (legacy past papers and markschemes)

http://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/chemistry-revision/ (I don't know what this is, but it's meant to be good loll  I think its again, topic based pp questions )

Biology:
http://www.thebiotutor.com/ (topic based past paper questions and markschemes- he might do notes too, I'm not sure)

http://pastpapers.org/ (legacy past papers and markschemes)

https://getrevising.co.uk/resources/cgpwned_your_ocr_as_biology_notes
and
https://getrevising.co.uk/resources/cgpwned_your_ocr_a2_biology_notes (Biology notes- OCR spec; not sure but you may need a getrevising account for this one )

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCopvVuSn0T5qJ3xdXSWJRjw/videos (Youtube videos- OCR A)

http://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/biology-revision/ (I think there are topic based qs on this site)

If I think of anything else, I will post em
Good luck
