it's not irrational because tiny animals bite/bring diseases so...plus it's just creepy. But yes it's funny to see someone like screaming and balled up in bed, it's what makes pranks hilarious

He was probably *****ing himself aswell. 
Two of my scariest situations:
1. Car full of drunk teens slowed down next to me when I was walking home and I honestly walked so fast that my legs ached for a couple of days.
2. Elderly man asked me to accompany him in his bedroom when I was 11 years old. He was wearing a leather jacket and had a mustache(stereotypical ikr). Thankfully my brother was there so nothing serious happened.
