The Student Room Group

Question for you guys.

Would you date a slightly social awkward person who has a lot of "baggage" due to her past, and suffers with really low moods (which is due to the bad situation she lives in)and who is shy but once you get to know her she is quite talkative.

She is like 5'3/5'4 and has what most would say is a lovely personality and who thinks she is ugly but every one tells her she aint and that she is good looking.

Guys would ya??

Let me guess, asking for a friend? :sly:

I wouldn't date anyone right now. But I'd not have a problem becoming friends and seeing where it went over time. Then again, it's not a good idea to get two depressives together, in my experience, so it wouldn't work.

Wrong actually, started typing and some how started to speak in third person. I just been told im undatable and will never find love though :/

Fair enough and yea tbh thats can be a toxic mix, and i appreciate your opinion.
How would we guage whether we would or not? There cannot be any personal assumptions made, and so I can only speak objectively. Objectively speaking, some people would say yeah for the sake of it? Some people would say no because they're not looking to get into a relationship at the moment.

A lot of relationships have to make sacrifices and a bond needs to be built - a strong bond.

With all that said, if you can cope with having a relationship and there appears to be no major problems (ie. the bad past isn't going to get in the way of someone's love) and if both people wants to have a relationship, then why not?

Why did they say that? Is it because they were trying to constructively provide you with criticism (mind yourself, that you may not want to accept that they are, if they actually did, which, you may need to dig deeper to find out)? Or was it a joke? Or was it truly being mean or what?

Then it's your family that is the problem, not you.

How have you never had friends?

Regardless, nothing can get in the way of someone's love - actually you might find the world trying to stop you, but if you truly care, you must fight for your right.

Fight on the world's standards - fire with fire. That way, you'll be seen as an equal. But that is not enough. First you must earn respect. Once you earn respect, then you can form better opinions, make more well-informed decisions, and be overall more well-rounded. That will also provide you with an alluring quality, possibly to 'get the girl'. If you be more sociable, you will undoubtedly feel better about yourself and make more friends.

Google is your friend when it comes to tips and tricks. But you must enhance your personality and eliminate your mental and emotional barriers to success.

That's just my opinion.

Because i gave up my childhood until i was 13 to be a young career and people would bully me at school during this time.

And thank you for your opinion.

I only date women who are socially well-adjusted, who have a track record completely clear of any negative or traumatic episodes, who are perpetually in a good mood, who are uniformly sociable and talkative regardless of familiarity, whose "lovely" personalities are celebrated by the community at large through a series of lavish festival days coinciding with the dates of important milestones in their lives, and who are eminent beauties both by their own standards, the standards of their age and place, and those universal aesthetic standards which transcend all category.

Not too fussed about height though.
Aw wish more guys thought like that then, and fair points there.

Ya think so and thats kind thing to do.

Couldnt agree more and dont say that.

My goodness, a bit like me almost but more. I would suggest starting to socialise little by little and not in big leaps. I would do stuff to build your confidence like volunteering in your community or something. Good luck!
Sure, if I found them attractive and I got along with them well.

From what I've seen families never really know what they're on about when they say crap like that. Or just when they try to give any estimate about somebody's datability, ever, be it a good forecast or a bad one. They are a bad source.

Yeah families are pretty bad at assuming what other people's tastes are. People in general are to a degree, come to think of it.
