How to get a decent paying job without a graduate scheme

Hi guys,

does anyone have any first hand experience on how they got a job without a graduate scheme? If so what steps did you take
I am currently in the process of doing this as well as applying for graduate scheme's

Best thing to do is apply for voluntary jobs in the sector you want to work and use the experience to apply for non grad roles..

Another boost for your cv would be to get a qualification recognised in your sector (you will have to pay for it out of your own pocket)

Also, get a part time job to keep money coming in to pay for the qualification... employers don't like people with long gaps on cv's

I did temporary work at an agency. Now I earn £20k in recruitment.

I'd say gaining experience is important if you really want to get somewhere.

What type of jobs did you do at the agency?

Mainly office work. There are many benefits towards temping..try something new, build something new; a career and get paid for it.
Depends what you classify as being decent pay... does salary really matter to you or are you happy with any jobs?
