I got B for 8, not D, and I didn't answer 21. How did you go about doing it?

Posted from TSR Mobile

4 was B I think, as 180-80=100
100-20=80
80=80

100-40=60
100 doesnt equal 40 doesnt equal 60

8 should be B-84

I also kept my working out. I answered 19 questions, but I've realised I've got one wrong, so I've got 96 at most, but probably 86 or 91. Do you reckon it was easier or harder than last year, if you've done that paper? I reckon it was about the same; we should both definitely get gold and with a bit of luck maybe kangaroo.

EDIT: Does anyone know when UKMT post the grade boundaries, and when they send schools the results?

I answered 17 questions but looking at some of other people's answers I think I got about 80.
I haven't actually done last year's paper (although I probably should have for practice) but I did a much earlier paper a few weeks ago and I found today's a little harder. I did the intermediate last year and qualified for the kangaroo.

Not sure when the grade boundaries come out but I think the results take about 4-6 weeks to arrive to your school.

Right so I got 69... Absolutely flunked it considering I was hoping to get 90-100

For 9 i don't see how y= -X^2 +1 passes through two. I thought it would only pass through (0,1) :frown:.
less chance for a gold cuz I'm wrong :frown:

It also passes through (1,0). Remember that
-x^2 is not the same thing as (-x)^2.

That's what I thought but apparently it's 7! = 5040
How is 11 E?

Nice, thanks
thats what I got, I just couldnt remember how. How did you find the rest of the paper?

No 4 is C, because the difference BETWEEN the two remaining angles has to be 60. Angles of 100, 40, and 60 would in any case add up to more than 180. If you work through B properly, you get angles of 80, 80, and 20 (as 80-20=60), and this doesn't work as the triangle has to be scalene. Whereas C gives angles of 80, 90, and 10, which are all different.

No, you can draw the diagram and see it's 84. That's what everyone else at my school got, and we at Westminster are considered to be the brightest kids in the country given our performance in GCSE and A-Level results tables.

Thanks, but damn you
Anyone go official answers?
I got:

B D B C A D A B C B E C A D B D D E D - C C E - D

Couldn't do 20 and 24 in the time.

Does anyone agree?

You cant know that for certain.
Lets just wait for results to arrive, eh?

That's impossible. Draw it to confirm: 42 squares in each half
Can people explain how they got their answers for:
11, 20, 23, 13, 15, 21 and 24.
Thanks
For some reason I really struggled to do Q8 - I think it was difficult to draw an accurate diagram and I struggled with counting haha

Other than that I think the rest of my answers were correct, and that I got 100 marks  pretty happy with that!

I got:

B D B C A D A B C B E C A D B D D E D - C C E - D

Yes, agree with all those. 20 was E and 24 was B.

The numbers in the boxes go:

10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25

Thanks! phew...
