Thermodynamics question

Why is the Kelvin scale used in thermodynamics?
How can boiling a used hand warmer in water recharge it?

Anyone have ideas? Thanks.

Because it is more sensible than most of the other scales.

Especially since it bothers to actually start at zero.

When you squeeze the pouch or when you press the metallic disk on the pouch, the sodium acetate solution begins to crystallise releasing heat in the process. Placing the hand warmer with the crystallised sodium acetate crystals in boiling water causes the crystals to melt and liquefy ready for usage.Any suggestions? Thanks

Yuck "acetate", I much prefer "ethanoate".

In the case of CH3COO-Na+, they don't melt, they dissolve in the small quantity of water present.
