I'm applying for thisrsummer but it's just that things in spring seems to be limited to IB and the like. I'd like to fill up next year's spring with something.

Ahh, well, you can't really apply to both summer and spring. So may as well focus just on summer.

Unless of course, you want to explore other jobs like consulting, asset management or financial software. Strategy&, Deloitte, McKinsey, EY, BlackRock, M&G, Bloomberg etc run programs in and around spring. McK actually runs a program specifically for STEM students called Horizons.

LSE although for International Relations (sadly not a mathematical subject). I deferred my year and already have an unconditional offer, it will be very hard but I will give it a shot and IB also, hopefully I end up with something in either IB or consulting.

A family friend was at BCG for 10 years and is now on the buy side at a fund has offered to teach over the next year once a week (I think this is referred to as shadowing/mentoring...). Hopefully with my EC's, his weekly consulting then we will move on to buy side lessons and getting the highest grade I can I'll get something.

A Spring Week will be great.

LSE will be fine, and your subject is also fine. You don't need insane levels of numeracy, but I would suggest working on your mental maths and taking up any classes where you get to fiddle around with stats and data etc.

Don't forget to have fun at uni ahaha.. Of course ECs, grades etc are important but so is being able to socialise with people. It's great you have that contact though, puts you in a pretty strong position.

Indeed. Would also check out BCG's Summer Insight, McK's Discover, Strat&'s talent academy, Oliver Wyman's Insight Day and Deloitte's spring into deloitte. Though there's always the path of just doing sws and a summer, then gunning for consulting in final year, if you prefer to sample IB first vs gunning for a summer in consulting. Lots of flexibility.

Best of luck in the upcoming months

Thank you so much for your advice, it's greatly appreciated.

Ha - you're amazing and always spot on (I lurked before joining) you're right, one of the first things my mentor said was while I don't need to be numeric I need to have strong mental arithmetic skills. He said being able to look at numbers and seeing somethings not right and not just relying on your excel (which is sometimes wrong) so being able to just do the small estimations quickly on the spot. I actually bought 5 mental arithmetic books on Amazon last week as I haven't done it since key stage 2. 😊 it was the first thing he called me out on (he randomly asked me a sum question and I fumbled) and he said especially for consulting I need to be able to think fast and said I need to improve my mental arithmetic, he went very hard on me about that so I got my books to study over the summer. He said it has been key in his consulting then buy side career and I should brush up now.

I'm excited and it's very cool to have found a forum like this with likeminded people.

Hey guys!

Does anybody of you know why the "Spring into Banking" Programme of Deutsche Bank is taking place this fall?
I've no clue now whether they want people that just finished school and will start with their bachelor courses this fall to apply or just people that're already done with their first year at university?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance..

It's not "this fall" it takes place next year, alongside all the other spring week programs. Applications open around September to October.

It's targeted at incoming first years or incoming second years on a 4 year course
