UCL Postgraduate Applications 2017/2018

Link to last year's thread: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3737087#primary_content

Application stage is well under way now, anyone already applied and maybe even heard back?

I'll be applying to the Machine Learning course at UCL  .

I applied for MSc Business Analytics.

It took them about 3 weeks to invite me to an interview that I completed yesterday. It went so-so..

I saw the acceptance rate last year for that program was less than 4%. So I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Lol.

How was your interview? Do you know when you'll find out your result?

Unfortunately, no idea when I will find out. Hoping soon!
Theinterview went Ok. I was kind of nervous and didn't nail some of the questions like I wanted. But hey, that's life.

What kind of questions did they ask? I submitted my application for the MSc Entrepreneurship program at the beginning of November as well. It's been a little over 3 weeks, so hopefully I'll be getting the interview email soon as well.

Also, where did you get that admissions statistic? Hoping that there is something similar for the MSc Entrepreneurship.

Good luck! Already seems a higher portion of ML/CSML applicants this year haha. What's your background in if you don't mind me asking?
I have an offer for MSc Language Sciences (with a specialisation in Neuroscience and Linguistics), and am waiting on MRes Speech, Language and Cognition. I applied six weeks ago, and got my offer after two weeks.

Hi guys! I copy and paste a message I wrote on a more generic thread, hoping to maybe get an answer or just your opinion

Here it is:

I'm an international student applying for 2 MScs and I've got a question for anyone that has already been accepted or might know this: is it possible for UCL to revert the recommendation for an offer of a department?

I'll be more specific: on Wednesday the status of both my applications turned into "currently being processed by Admissions" which, I know, it's the last stage before getting a decision. Then nothing relevant happened during the night and so I decided to call them on Thursday morning. They told me the Department had recommended that I was to be made an offer for one of my applications, while the other one got back to "under consideration by dept".

The guy also told me that I should've got the "conditional offer" message on Portico within a maximum of two working days (that is, considering the weekend, as late as Monday, as he specified). So, I know they're still on time, but here comes the important part: it's been quite a few days now since the "currently under consideration" status appeared, which is rather unusual, and more importantly there's a very silly mistake in the application for the other MSc (which btw is my second choice).

So, could this last thing affect in any way the consideration of the other application? Could they revert the "recommendation of an offer" of the Department? Do you think this slight delay it's normal or is it just me being paranoid?

I'm sorry for the long message, but as I said I'm bordering paranoia and madness! :P It's been a few very exhausting and nerve-wracking months, I know you can understand.

So thank you guys for this thread and your help, TSR is a great place and I now hope to be an active part of it after having read it for a long time

Cheers!

"Recommended by the department" is means they will make you an offer, but admissions will first check whether or not all the information provided is correct. Unless you lied, you shouldn't be worried. You will most likely receive it 1-2 weeks.

Oh, alright  It's just me getting very anxious then, I guess it's a mixture of nervousness and excitement. It's just that, you know, being in that specific "currently being processed" status for so long looks a little strange, also being in my situation with the other application.

But yeah... it's just me

Hi! I applied on the 1st of October. I heard back from them just this week, so that means after around seven weeks since submitting my application complete with references.

Well, actually I didn't properly "hear back" from them, just noticed a change of status logging into Portico

I felt the same! Unless there is a major problem you should get the offer!

The following status is supposed to be "Currently being processed by admissions". However, I've read of a few people who got a straight up offer/rejection from "application under assessment". But this wasn't the case for the vast majority of applicants
